I was married in September 2011 and I ordered my dress in November 2010. I am not sure which type of dress you are looking for but I would probably get onto it sooner rather than later, as It usually takes 6 months for most places.

I would suggest as soon as you know which dress you want! I’m 10 months out and I just ordered my dress. It’s not a big designer, but it will still take 4 months to come in. Some brands, like Maggie Sottero and Allure, can take a bit longer than that.

When I went in to look at desses and I finally found one, they told me to order PRONTO because they take about 5-7 months to come in and they would like at least 3 months to be able to alter it.

So I ordered mine the end of September and it was here about 5 weeks later. Thank goodness they offer to store my dress for free until my wedding day or I’d be a bit irritiated.

I would start looking seriously and order it when you find it, just to be safe. They had mine already at the warehouse but I know a bride that didnt have her dress until 4 days before her wedding and they STILL had to alter it!

I like that dress! I tried it on and it was really hard to say no to!

Places like David’s usually sell you dresses off the rack, or if they have to order one in your size, they’re not made to order so it takes a lot less time for your dress to come in. The only thing I would worry about is maybe the dress being discontinued, because they tend to do that without much notice, but other than that you don’t have to order it too far ahead from DB.

I would order as soon as you can. Some dresses can take 7-8 months to come in. I’m not sure about DB though. I ordered mine 11 months in advance 🙂

The longest I think I’ve ever heard anyone having to wait on a DB gown was 3 months, but I think you should order it as soon as you can, just to be safe. Plus, I found it’s a lot easier to plan and pick out other wedding details once you know what you’re wearing! GL!
