We were together 18 mos before I moved in.   He surprised me with a proposal two months later.

This may sound crazy and not what I would usually do, but here’s my story: We moved in together after 4 months, but bought a house just after 2.5 months!

Fiance and I met in March 2010 in Quebec while he was here from BC on a course (I was working). He left that month, came back the end of April and we started dating. He was only here for a week though so we carried out a long distance relationship. I was here on a 7 month contract but decided to extend for a year so I wasn’t going to be able to stay in the job-provided accomodations come September.

He was already planning on moving here when we met (what luck!) so he asked me to move in with him in September when he arrived. He was buying a house and I would just pay him “rent.” But when he came here in July to look for a house he asked if I wanted to buy it with him. He said it’d be a good investment. Even my parents thought it was a good idea. And, well, it’s worked out!

We had been dating for 9 months when we moved in together. For us, moving in together was THE DECISION. That was us making the commitment to being together permanently because we were choosing to make Mr. LK a daily fixture in teen LK’s life, and that’s not a decision you can just go back on if things don’t work out. So yeah, it was pretty huge for us, and it worked out far more smoothly that I ever imagined it would. The smooth transition only further re-enforced that we were making the right decision, and allowed us to move into the engagement phase early in our planned timeframe.

We bought our house about a month before our 4 year anniversary and moved in a couple weeks after it. πŸ™‚

We moved in at 5 months, got engaged at 9 months, and married at 1.5 years. We move fast apparently. πŸ™‚ He said since he was in his 30’s already, when you know, you know and no sense dragging it out to be more socially acceptable!

I didn’t move in with Fiance until after we were married…and we dated less than two years (15 months to be exact, 6 of which we were engaged).

We officially moved in together after 11 months of dating. However, we decided we would do it six months after dating and put a deposit down on a new place eight months in.

We were more than ready to move in with each other after a year, but school and finances were not amenable.  We ended up waiting til we were in a more stable financial situation, and actually moved in to our place 5 days after our two year anniversary.  Living with my lovie is everything I hoped for and more πŸ™‚

There were circumstances that I wish never came up that lead to us moving in together at about 6 months–we were more roommates than a couple.

Not until we got married, and we had been together for over two years by the time of the wedding. πŸ™‚ I’m happy we waited! It was lovely setting up house as a married couple, and not at all drama filled like some people experience.

We were dating one year before we moved in together. It just felt very different from any relationship I’d been in, and for me, I knew I wanted to live together for awhile before getting married, so when his lease ended after that first year it worked out well.

Technically, we moved into together around the 10 month mark when we got our own apartment. But he had been unofficially living in my dorm room after about 2 months of dating (he was technically living with his parents, but never went there. He even showered and did his laundry in my dorm!). It was really fast, especially since I was only 19 at the time, but we went on to date for another 4.5 years before getting engaged.
