i have been getting anxious about when i should do this since my wedding is now only 2.5 months away. yesterday, Fiance said he will do his the week before! i was like, why wait to the last minute when you don’t have to, i am sure we will be stressed with plenty of other things that week! but at the same time, i can’t see myself sitting down NOW and writing them…
so i was curious what other people do.

We did them together, probably 3-4 weeks before the wedding. We were pretty last minute on a lot of stuff though, so we might not be a good gauge.
I know a lot of people work better under pressure, maybe your Fiance is that way?

@ddw: i am that way, but was hoping for the wedding i would get things done in advance. FI, I think, just does not see the need to work on them sooner! like for what he will wear to our wedding, he thinks he can go shopping the weekend before as well! at least i have some control over that because i can simply go out and buy something for him, he will try it on and if he doesn’t like it, i will keep trying until i find something!

I tried to do mine several times in the months before but just really struggled with it. We both worked on them the most the week of the wedding and were finishing them up the night before. I needed the pressure and needed to feel that it was all real and coming together before I could finish up.

We did not write our own vows – catholic ceremony.

@dynamic_duo: Hahaha… we may or may not have bought my husband’s wedding suit eight days before the wedding. 🙂

We are approximately 5 [or so, depending on final venue contract] months from our wedding. We are writing our entire ceremony as well as vows, so we starting early. We aren’t barreling through it, but we take time every so often to write a paragraph or so, tweak etc. and then think on it for a week or two.
We are both writing our own vows and while i havealready begun brainstorming & outlining, nothing is finalized yet.

I wrote mine about 3 weeks before the wedding. Darling Husband wrote his about a week and a half before.

Our wedding is in July, and I know I’m probably crazy, but we already have our vows written! We are writing our own ceremony too though, so it just seemed natural to do it all at once. Now, as the wedding comes closer, all we need to do is make any necessary adjustments to make sure it all sounds perfect!

We’re not writing out vows, but we’re doing the wine box ceremony, which includes writing love letters to each other. I’ve been trying to get my letter started for 3 months now and I can’t even get the first 3 sentences down without starting over. I’m in the same boat as you – I want to get mine done early, because it’s definitely not something I want to rush and possibly leave out something.

I was kind of in your situation, stressing about it; but I wasn’t able to write anything good before the week before we left for our Destination Wedding… I guess inspiration is better when you get closer.
I would say, let him have his own timelines – he’ll do it; it’s his wedding day too and he won’t come at the altar with nothing to say to you. (I had to repeat that to myself many times!)

@egb: thanks, i will definitely remember that! he has also written really sweet birthday cards ON my bday, so i guess i know he is capable!
