This is mostly a matter of curiosity. Our wedding was small – 55 guests – and we had about 40 “thank-you” cards to write among all the couples. I wrote about half of all of the cards (predominantly using boilerplates) before the wedding, then grew more specific about each gift that was given for the remainder of the card after the wedding. I even sent ‘thank yous’ to the folks who attended sans gift/cards.
We were married on a Friday. All of the cards were sent out Saturday afternoon, so I imagine most of our local guests received their cards between Monday and Wednesday the next week – within 5 days.
How long before your cards were out? What tips do you have to others getting married on how to manage the cards?

My wedding was fairly simple and we asked for no gifts, but I sent out thankyous to those who did (don’t think they’d have been expecting them). It did take 3 months though, as we had a wedding photo printed into a thankyou card and wrote notes on the back, and our wedding photos took 2.5 months. We were on our honeymoon for a month after the wedding, so it couldn’t have been sooner than that!

We had a similar number of guests. If a gift was received within a week of the wedding (when we returned from our honeymoon), the notes were in the mail by 9 days post-wedding.

We wrote them throughout the week following our wedding and then sent them the following Monday, so within two weeks.
