How long between your engagement and your wedding?

We had an 18 month engagement, and put a deposit down on our venue less than a month after getting engaged. Venues and vendors in our area book more than a year in advance for summer/fall weddings, so the majority of couples I know have had engagements that are between 1-2 years.

It’s such a personal thing for each couple.. enjoy your time being engaged 🙂 and congratulations!

We were engaged on October 20th 2017, and married on August 18th 2018. We just loved the look and sound of 18/8/18 (we’re Australian so we put day/month/year) as our wedding date.

We had a 7 month engagement.  I was engaged once previously and broke it off 2 months before the wedding.  That engagement would have been total about 14 months, which to me seemed too long.  This time, neither of us had a desire to bask in the engagement – like a PP said, the whole point of getting engaged was to get married.  I had no problems planning everything in that time period and I’m glad I didn’t have a lot of down time to second guess my decisions.

About 15 months. My husband was finishing grad school, and we were going to move and didn’t know where to – or else it would have been quicker!

bakerbee09 :  we just got engaged April 13th and i swear that’s everyone’s first question. Currently we shooting for June 2021 so we’ll be engaged for a little over 2 years. We’re going with 2+ years for a few reasons; our dream venue is basically fully booked for the dates I liked and I didn’t want to settle, we’ll have more time to save money, and we’re both full time college students so by June 2021 I’ll have just finished up my student teaching! If we could’ve made a 1 year engagement work I would’ve loved that but I think 2+ years will be less stressful for us.

bakerbee09 :  We’re both in our upper 30’s. We did not want a super long engagement. I originally wanted a fall wedding but we got engaged in August so that meant either planning a wedding in 2 months or waiting 14 months. He didn’t want to wait 14 months so we decided to get married in May. Our engagement was 9 months.

Just over 10 months for me. Dec 15-Oct. 19. We are in our late 20s and early 30s and can afford it. So for us it was time to plan and give out of towners notice for travel.

10 months feels like a good amount of time.

Probably about 15 months. There are a lot of factors. If you have a certain venue in mind, they often book up 1-2 years out, on the other hand, if you wanted to get married sooner you likely could, you just don’t get to be as picky about venue then.
We’re going with longer as it gives us longer to save up 🙂

It will be 15 months. We wanted to get married in Autumn so it was either 15 months or 4 months and we thought 4 might be pushing it haha.

We didn’t want a long engagement, but we also wanted to be able to enjoy it and not be super stressed.
