How long between your engagement and your wedding?

One month. My husband’s idea. We were always planning on getting married by a justice of the peace with zero preparation and no guests, so it wasn’t really a problem when he didn’t want to wait. I thought it was sweet. We ended up closing on a house two months later (we were already living together), so it was nice to be married and have all the name change and legal documents taken care of before doing that paperwork.

Congratulations!! We got engaged Oct 3, 2018 and will get married Nov 30, 2019. We decided on our date by figuring out how much we wanted to save by the wedding date & how long that would comfortably take us, then we looked at FI’s workload and chose a slow month (my workload is fairly steady), then our venue and surrounding hotel availability chose our exact date. For some reason, i had my heart set on Nov 23, but it wasn’t meant to be!

bakerbee09 :  We had a 16 month engagement.  We got engaged in the spring and wanted a fall wedding – that fall was too soon for us, so the following fall was selected!  We planned everything pretty fast and just spent most of our engagement enjoying our new “status” as an engaged couple.

We got engaged in February and are getting married in July, so 5 months. But we booked our venue in January, so our date was set before our official engagement.

It was “technically” 7 months from when I had the ring (Oct 13, 2018). But we set the venue in August 2018 for our May 2019 wedding so that everyone would have time to plan and save to make the trip.  We’re doing a small 35 person wedding though, so not much to plan!

We were engaged in December 2016 and the wedding is March 2020 ! Slightly different though as I was 21 in 2016 and since then we have bought a house, yay.

I’m sure our engagement is going to be at least a year and a half and happen summer of 2020 because I want to get married in the summer and I don’t want to do it this summer cause I have too much going on to plan a wedding, lol. Mind you, our wedding is going to be SUPER simple. I would be suprised if we invite 10 people. But I still don’t feel like figuring everything out in the next couple of months.

So far I haven’t done not one. single. thing to prepare for the wedding. I’m thinking to start around November/December of this year. So right now I’m just enjoying being engaged.

Firstly, congratulations!

Our wedding date is almost exactly TWENTY FIVE MONTHS (YEP 25) from our engagement date.

Since we are financing this ourselves, we wanted to make sure we had enough time to properly plan/save. We know we are spending the rest of our lives together, so it was no rush for us.

Ours was a little 1.6 years. Which is long, but I’m glad we’ve had time to prepare (we’d struggle to afford it otherwise).

  • Wedding: April 2018

We made the decision together that we wanted to get married in January of 2018 but my husband still wanted to get a ring and propose and the proposal happened mid February. I had always loved the idea of getting married on my late grandfather’s birthday which is April 3rd…so it was either get married in a couple months or wait a little over a year. We wanted a very very small and intimate ceremony that didn’t take much planning or prep so we went with a very short engagment and I wouldn’t change the way we did it for the world! 🙂

We got engaged on 12th April and married on 4th August. Had a traditional British wedding for 100 guests. Loved our whirlwind engagement!

We have a year engagement. He proposed on March 28th 2019. At first we thought about a Sept. 2020 wedding but moved it up (a combo of a 2021 family vacation and off season). We just signed for March 28, 2020.
