His Mom gave it to him on Christmas (it was his great-grandmother’s) and he proposed on New Years night. He was going to wait until Groundhog Day, because no one expects a proposal on Groundhog Day, but he couldn’t wait more than a week.

I had no idea the ring existed, or that he was going to ask. I think he kept it in his bedside table.

About 15 minutes — which is the time it takes to get from the jeweler to our house…

He said he was planning on proposing the next day (on his birthday) and had this whole “it would be the best birthday present ever if you said yes” speech all planned out, but he’s a now kinda guy…He also gave me the ring he bought me for x-mas that day too (August)

I think about a month! And idk how long before that while it was being made. He had his brother hold onto it so I wouldn’t find it in our apartment haha We were going on vacation so he had to keep it until then..then he kept it in his wallet for 2 full days before proposing in St Lucia…now looking back I can see how nervous he was and SUPER protective about his wallet LOL didn’t notice a thing at the time!

@soon2beMRSgq:  similar story…..Fiance picked up my ring the morning of our house closing and proposed later that night, after we had signed all our paperwork and gotten our keys. (it was our first time in our house after we bought it) we then went out to dinner to celebrate 2 exciting things!!

He said he had it for a full month in our tiny little apartment. Apparently it was very obviously placed but I didn’t know at all!

A few hours. He had ordered it and it finally came in. He’d been planning on doing something special but couldn’t contain himself any longer so the moment he walked in the door, he dropped to one knee.

My Darling Husband had the ring for about 6-8 months. I was not involved in the process at all, but he isn’t the best at being discrete so I have a good idea of when he got the ring.

Yes, when I ask Darling Husband now why he waited he does say he wanted to wait for “the right time”.

Minus two and a half months! We decided to have custom rings made, and didn’t want to wait to get engaged because we wanted to get the ball rolling on other planning (we wanted a short engagement). We looked at a few jewelers, got an idea of what we wanted, and made some sketches, but we got engaged, then put together a ring design, then settled on a place to have them made, and picked them up when they were ready, about 10 weeks after the proposal.

a week or two. He had ordered it and kept it with him in his bag that he had a few times left in my car (he’s way too trusting). He was waiting to propose till we closed on the house.

Hrm.  Both rings burned a hole in his pocket, all three times.

Ring 1, we made it from the gift shop to the stairs.  Ttp <=30minutes.

Ring2, part a.  I wore the ring out of the jeweler’s, even though I told him since it was the real deal, he should hang on to it or something, regardless of the fact that I knew what it looked like.  He wasn’t having that.

Ring2, part b, I gave it back to him prior to dinner the next day, because I figured a nice dinner proposal would be nice for his family and might get us free dinner (it didn’t >.>).  He was antsy all evening.  Maybe he had the ring for two hours this time.

It’s fun to talk about having two engagement rings and two proposals.

He bought it December 9th, proposed December 25th (I have the paperwork for the warranty, so I saw the purchase date.) So not very long at all!!
