7 months. We got engaged last March and married in October. We didn’t want to wait until 2013, and we loved the idea of fall. Poll?

We got engaged September 1st and are getting married in May. We don’t have high expectations and honestly have been seriously low-key about everything, so with very little effort we’ve basically got everything figured out. (Pretty close anyway.) I feel like I could have done this in 4 or 5 months and still had plenty of room to breathe.

Note: LDS temple weddings are way easier to plan than conventional weddings!

Engaged in May and getting married in July. Although I don’t think I need this much time. I just want to get married in the summer since I am a teacher.

We had a 2 year engagement.  We both have large families so the extra time to save up to properly host everyone we wanted to be there was nice.  He proposed after we dated for about 11 months, so we were in no rush to get married since he proposed fairly quickly 🙂

    • Wedding: November 2013

We got engaged on November 13, 2012 and our wedding date is November 9, 2013 … Almost 1 year to the day.

My fiance wanted a shorter engagement, but I wanted at least a year (or close to it) to plan and save.  We will also be having a lot of out-of-town guests for the wedding, so we wanted to be sure they had plenty of time to make travel arrangements, secure time off from work, etc.  We both wanted to get married in the fall or winter, so November of this year seemed like the perfect time!

We had a 14 month engagement…it was the only thing that worked for us (I’m a teacher and wanted to get married during the summer) but I absolutely wish it was shorter.  I think 6-9 months is ideal but you can plan a weding in however much time you have!!

We were engaged for over a year. We did not start planning until the last minute….we were just not in a rush to start planning right away and I loved just being engaged without all that pressure.

    • Wedding: August 2012

We got engaged June 16, 2012 and got married August 25, 2012, so 9 weeks!! (I had been looking at ideas, etc for a while before then)

That was not our original plan. We wanted to get married in the fall (October) but had three other friends getting married that month! And I didn’t want a winter wedding and I didn’t want to wait until 2013! I wouldnt recommend such a short engagement, but everything went fine for us, and it helped that we had such supportive families/ bridal party. 🙂

(Edit: I did almost everything DIY, and also the wedding was in my parents backyard, so there was no venue issues to deal with )
