We closed in just about 28 days– it was tough, but the seller had already had the house on the market forever, so a quick close was one of our baraining chips.

We closed in 36 days. We could have closed in 30, but the seller established the closing date as part of our contract negotiations.

It took us about two months.  But we bought a HUD home, so there were some goverment hoops to jump through.

@Missus_LLC:  Why are you waiting for your realtor to tell you when to start looking? As long as you have your down payment and closing cost money chilling in your account, have established your budget, and have gotten pre-approved, there’s no reason to wait for your realtor to tell you when you can start looking. You could get lucky and find your house on your first trip out, or you could be like us. It took us 18 months from our first trip out to look at houses with a realtor until we actually closed on a house. Closing was the easy and fast part. It was finding the house and dealing with 3 other failed deals that was the hard part.

Also, it looks like most bees who have responded had conventional sales. If you want a foreclosure, or are using special home buyer programs, or offer on a short-sale property, things can easily take 2 months or more to close. A short-sale can easily take 6 months to close. I know someone whose short-sale purchase took a year, and someone else whose purchase only took in 6 weeks. It all depends.

lovekiss FIs credit was horrible in the 400s with the three credit bureaus so we hired someone and hes been writing legal letters to the bureaus regarding the accts on his credit [ he had identity theft ], I have good credit all in the 700s. I added him to my accounts and his credit scores have gone up to atleast 640, the realtor said once his other score got up to 640 we’d be able to buy our duplex. So thats why were waiting for next month, and i think were using a first time buyer program not sure of all the details.

About two months.  We close (actually, I will close for both of us – FI out of the country) next Friday.  If I remember correctly, the sellers accepted our offer on May 29th.  My broker says it is the fastest short sale in history.

It took me 33 days to close. I bought a foreclosure, but it was pretty quick and painless, lol.

We went under contract on February 23rd and closed on our home and started moving in on March 30th.

It was a new build that had a couple finishing touches the builders had to complete (in addition to them adding in a variety of things we negotiated for in our offer).

We got our signed contract on July 3rd and we are set to close on August 15th.  I really hope that timeline sticks!
