8 years and still waiting for that to happen. They choose to keep our relationship more distant and though we live close by we only see them a few times a year. It’s always awkward when we interact. I’ve long suspected they do not like me.

oh man. depends which members. With one of his uncles and some of his cousins, we hit it off immediately. I feel im still bulding with his brother. And we do get along, its just me.
Our cultures are SO different, so im still adjusting (even after almost 10 years). His family is very progress left Jewish; I come from a very conservative, man centered, religious based culture. @[email protected] so im still adjusting.

I think it really depends on your personality and the family. Luckily I felt super comfortable around Fi’s family pretty soon, but that was because they are very welcoming and social people, I don’t think it was anything I particularly did.

I guess there is a huge difference between liking someone and calling them your family/feeling super comfortable. I like my FH’s family, some members more than others… but I don’t feel like I have to see them all the time. We don’t text or call each other all the time either. Only if there is a reason but we always have a good time together, no majour disagreements etc…We talk about everything and joke and laugh but still it will take forever for me to really LOVE them as I LOVE my family.
