I went shopping a couple weeks ago. I found my dress during my first visit at the first shop, so it took me about an hour and a half? Hah. I don’t think I’m the average case though. I really lucked out.

I started dress shoping in Nove for my March wedding.  I had been dress shopping with my friends for their weddings and was NOT looking forward to the hot sweaty time consuming icky dress shopping thing, so I put it off as long as I could.

I picked a Friday night at 5pm in Nove…. I’ve posted this before,  but it was just “us” in the store.  It was calm … no pressure … I  tried on at least 20 dresses. (seriously when am I ever going to try on a Poofy Scarlett O’hara dress again?)   I took my bff/sil, her two  girls, my niece and great niece(who I’ve helped raise) and my Dad.

I walked out in the first dress and he started crying.  He’s affectionate and loving but I’ve only seen him cry when my mom and brother passed.  I tried on the next 20 dresses but pulled out the first one again .. and my Dad had to leave the store to get some composure.  I got that dress.

You will know.  You may not cry but the right dress makes you gasp.

it took me about 20mins to find ‘the dress’ but after trying on many dresses and debating between which style i wanted, it took me about 2 hours to make the final call on my dress. I had a very successful and pleasant dress shopping experience!

@SparkleBee11:  I kind of had a time crunch since my mom flew in to spend a week dress shopping with me back in January.  I made 4 appointments originally at 4 different bridal shops in the area.  I actually found my dress at the second shop on the first day of shopping, but wasn’t ready to commit right away.  I went to all of the other appointments and made a second appointment at the bridal shop with the dress I loved to try it on again.  When I went back, I just knew it was the right choice.

I tried on around 30 dresses or so, and found and ordered my gown within about 6 days.

I shopped in Dec for a May wedding, and it took me two hours to find my dress.

@SparkleBee11:  I had no intention of purchasing a dress, but I saw one in a store window that I loved. I just went to look, but they insisted I try it on. It was just my mom and me, and it was actually perfect. I wasn’t engaged yet so I didn’t take the dress. But we ended up going back a week later and since it was a floor sample, we got to take it home. I got engaged 5 months later lol

I started shopping in Nov for a Sept wedding. I knew exactly what I was looking for & knew that my designer (sottero & midgley) took at least 6 months to come in after ordering. I found my dress at the second shop I went to so it probably took me about 3 hours. My dress will be here at the end of May!! 🙂

We got engaged on Christmas Eve last year, and I started looking straight away. Just browsing online, different designers, and getting a feel for what I liked and didn’t like. I went to visit three bridal salons in February, tried on a bunch of different silhouettes, and that gave me more clarity about what I wanted. I settled on a ceremony dress about a month ago – but that hasn’t stopped me from looking at other dresses!

Half an hour? Lol. We got engaged in Feb and I went to one store in March and bought my dress. I’m quite indecisive as well, but my dream dress was apart of a sample sale and I had to snatch it up.

It took me about 3 weeks and two bridal shops. However, I had been browsing online for MONTHS and it felt like it took me forever to find what I was looking for there. I ended up going with one of the dresses I had been eyeing for about 6 months.

It took me about 5 months… But that’s because I started shopping early to just get ideas. I went to like 7 appointments or something and tried on well over 50 dresses. I still never had “that moment” but I did know my dress was the right one and purchased it after going back to try it on a couple times! 🙂

Almost a year! Good thing I started early because I was extremely indecisive, then changed my mind after ordering the first dress. I’m happy with the second though!

I’d say probably half a dozen stores & almost 100 dresses later. You just know the minute you put it on.

45 minutes from entering the store to purchase! And it wasn’t even one of the ones I had looked at before going in.
