I was on the pill for 12 years I think. I went off it in Dec 2011. My periods went right back to being extremely regular. We didn’t use protection from Dec 2011-Oct 2012, though he did ‘pull out’ more often than not. We started trying the beginning of Oct and it took us 2 cycles after trying. I used the fertility friend app the first month and OPK test strips. The second month I used the app, OKP, and charted my temperature.

I was on the pill for years (since I was about 17 and I’m now 25, almost 26). I did take an almost-year break beginning in 09, however, but started back up December 09. I went off again to TTC in late Nov 2012 and got my BFP Jan 24th, on my 2nd cycle trying.

I’m not TTC but I read a study in my doctors office once that claimed it isn’t abnormal for a couple to be TTC for 2 years and both can be perfectly healthy. They say it has to do with enviromental agents, obesity in our culture, the fact that a fertile window is pretty short and lives are very busy, etc. That’s why in our medical system (My prov. in Canada) you must be TTC for 2 years before your dr can put forth a referral for a specialist.

I think we’re pretty unusual, but we got pregnant with twins our first month trying. I had been on a low-dose progestin only pill (cerazette) for about a year, but stopped taking it 3 months before trying so it could get out off my system and my cycle could go back to normal. Didn’t expect it to happen so fast!

I stopped taking the pill after our wedding in aug 2011 In preparation after being on it for more than 10 years. Our plan was to start trying in April 2012. I charted and soon realized that I wasn’t ovulating. I started seeing an obgyn in may and got some medical intervention. I started ovulating with medication geotag and got my bfp on my second egg release in oct.

so, technically it took us from April-oct to get preggers, but really we had no chance at all until aug, so really we had two real cycles where it was a possibility

Took 4 months for Dh and I to conceive, but if I could give out one piece of advice, buy those OPK tests (only $1 from the dollar store). They were the best investments I ever made, especially because my Dh has a very low sperm count and we literally only had 1 shot per cycle as he would need to save up his “stuff” for 10 days prior to BD. I was also on the pill for 9 years prior and I got off of it the month of our wedding (conceived in Jan.). Good luck!!

i was on the pill for about 8 years, stopped it a year before TTC and noticed irregular cycles (28-44 days). Once we started TTC, with no luck for 8 or so months, both hubby and I got tested and his sperm analysis came back on the low side, and my progesterone was too low to confirm ovulation (which I didn’t learn until later). While waiitng to get to the 1 year mark for a referral, we both started seeing a Naturopath, and our follow-up tests showed both of us had improved.

Finally got pregnant after 15 months TTC, thanks to Naturopath. I also swear by charting, especially if you find you have irregular cycles. Just being aware of cervical mucous is probably enough if you are fairly regular. TCOYF will tell you all you need to know.

On the other hand, I have had 3 friends get pregnant their first month off birth control in the past 18 months, and all had VERY little knowledge about ovulation and fertility.

All the best xx

@JenniferD:  I was on hormonal bc off & on for 10 years and consistently the year before getting married. We were off bc for 3 months before starting to ttc and got pregnant the first cycle trying.

I’ve never been on the pill. We used natural family planning and condoms for almost 4 years to successfully avoid pregnancy. I got pregnant our first month of trying. My cycles are super regular and I knew them well from using NFP. I’m 28 and come from a very fertile family. My mom had 7 kids and my dad was one of 17. The average number of kids among his sisters is 5. (We’re Catholic, if you couldn’t tell.)

I was on the pill for 11 years and got pregnant the month I stopped taking them.  My baby is now three weeks old.

@JenniferD:  I got pregnant the first month trying. But I wasn’t on BC pills, and I’d been tracking my cycles, using OPK tests, and checking my cervical fluids for the three months prior so I knew exactly when my fertile window was (I also started taking prenatals during this pre-conception period, as well as having my immunity blood tests and a dental check up)

my advice to you would be to just stop taking the pills, and try to just relax and let nature take its course. I see too many women on here stressing over not getting pregnant right away after getting off the pills. The truth is, it could take you one month. Or it could take you 6. unless you have scheduling conflicts, you’ll probably be gettin’ busy as newlyweds and it’s bound to happen without you buying OPKS or charting your temp or anything. Really, checking your cervical fluids is the clearest fertile sign and free and easy to do. Have fun TTC!!!

My 1st pregnancy was unexpected and I got pregnant on the pill. This go around I got pregnant our 1st cycle of trying. I really thought it would take longer since a doctor when I was 18yrs old told me I had PCOS and I would struggle to get pregnant.

With my son 6 years ago I had been on the pill for 12 years. I got pregnant the 2nd month and was 30. The 2nd month seems to be my lucky month. This past time I had the Mirena and got pregnant the 2nd month, but I mc. Then got pregnant again on the 2nd month after my mc.
