I went off BCP in August. For the first two months we were NTNP – then I became pregnant in November after we were TTC and using OPKs. So 3 months total after stopping BCP.

My first baby was an oopsie (wasn’t TTC), my second took 7 months for a BFP, had a MC and then another 7 months for my rainbow baby, third was conceived on our second cycle of TTC after 2 years straight of HBC (1 year of the Ortho-Evra patch and then 1 year of Ortho-Tri Cyclen) and now we’re currently in cycle 7 TTC #4 after 2.5 years of the Paraguard IUD.

I was on various forms of BC for 10 years, This last time I was on BCP. Finished my pack in early October and concieved on my birthday  October 25th. We weren’t going to start TTC until November because I wasn’t sure how long it would take my cycles to regulate. We were expecting to be trying for at least a year… so it’s really different for everyone.

I am only on my second TTC cycle, but I asked my mom, it took her 1 year to conceive her first, about 6 months with her second and the third (me) was an “oops”. She didn’t mention that they needed medical help and I don’ think even charting was common back then (’75-’81).

It took me between one and three months of trying to get pregnant each time (I have three children). It helped to understand my cycle in order to aim at the right dates.

We had a successful first try during my fourth cycle off the pill. I was charting and trying to avoid the first few months, but it looked like the pill affected my cycle the first two months after it which would likely have prevented pregnancy as I had only a 7-8 day luteal phase.  The 3rd cycle, the month before we started trying, it was up at 13 days, so that was probably the earliest I could’ve gotten pregnant.

I have never been on the pill or any other bc medication, we had been using the pull-out method for a couple years before we decided to ttc. We got lucky and it only took one cycle – I was sure that since we didn’t have any scares previously that something would be wrong with one of us!

I give lots of credit to the OPKs for helping me time BD(even though we started BD when I got EWCM, I knew it was go-time when I got the positive OPK) and also laying with my butt propped up afterwards for 30 minutes or so each time 😛 who knows if that helped but it happened! Best of luck to ya!

@JenniferD:  I was on the pill for about six years, but went off and started charting/using condoms in Nov. 2011. We officially started trying (using OPKs) in December. I got my BFP yesterday (!!!!), so it was our second cycle TTC.

Have you gone off the pill? My doctor wanted me to be off for at least three cycles before TTC. Oh, and start your prenatals. It’s never too soon, plus they do awesome things for your hair and nails!

Why can’t my cycles be regular? I envy women with regular timely cycles. Life sometimes is just not fair!

It took me a year & I was not ever on the pill, but as soon as we started “trying,” I trained for & ran a marathon, and I didn’t get my period for 3 months, so that kind of threw everything off.

I believe I was on the pill for about 12 years. I stopped taking it in Febuary 2012 (I think – I don’t really remember! It was around that time). Started officially trying in September and was preggo in December!
