Hi Fellow TTC Bees-
As many of you may know my DH and I were thinking of TTC at the end of this year. However, I am beyond ready to get pregnant and so we are planning on trying in a month or two. I have been off BC for almost a year now. I will be going in to see my doctor in a week or so for a physical and discussion with my doctor but overall I don’t know of any real concerns health wise. It seems that recently many people I know have had difficulties and I am starting to worry.
I’m not too keen on charting for a bit we shall see if we have troubles I will probably change my mind quickly.
So dear bees I am curious, how long did it take you to get pregnant?

I wasn’t huge on charting either. I tried temping for a few months, but I didn’t like that. Basically I would just make a note of my cervical mucus everyday and after a few months, I was able to tell exactly when I had ovulated.
With my first pregnancy, I got pregnant on the second cycle. Unfortunately that pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks. Once my period returned to normal after about 6 weeks, I got preganant again on the fourth cycle. I currently 22 weeks along!
My best advice is get to know your cycle!

1st cycle of NTNP–no charting/temping, just pulled the goalie–so my recommendation be would to NOT try unless you’re absolutely sure you’d be okay if you got pregnant right out of the starting gate! We figured we’d be trying for a few years because of all the problems people in my family have had getting pregnant, so it was more than a little bit of a shock when we got pregnant (with twins, no less) on the first go. Doesn’t happen to everyone, but something to think about!

@Treejewel19: After being on birth control for 15+ years I just knew that it would take us some time to get pregnant. Like you, I didn’t want to chart, temp, etc… for the first six months and tried my hardest not to make it feel like a job for the hubby. We got pregnant second cycle and was stress free 🙂 Good luck to you…. it’s a very exciting time!!!

We weren’t trying, but I was charting (to avoid). It was my third month off birth control that I got pregnant. It was surprising for so many reasons, but I had been convinced it would take us a loooon time to conceive when we wanted to try. Boy, was I wrong 🙂 Good luck!

We started trying july 2012 – got pregnant in September but later miscarried in October. After I healed emotionally, we started trying again in December and I got pregnant in February. I used OPKs the first go round, but this past time I used nothing.

I stopped BC after I finished my pill pack in March. Our first cycle trying was in April, and we were pregnant! I had also been on BC for about 10 years. I did switch brands in between, and I had about 2-3 months where I didn’t take any, so that may have had some sort of an effect.

My situation is similar to
@UK Bride: … We thought it would take us a while to get pregnant. A lot of women in my family had fertility issues so I was mentally prepared that it wouldn’t just happen right away. We started NTNP in December and the plan was to really “get into” TTC by summer 2013. I got my BFP on January 1st. We were thrilled, but I’m not gonna lie, there was a lot of panic at first because I was so prepared (mentally) for it to take a while, that I didn’t really think about it happening that fast. So make sure you prepare for both outcomes! lol Good luck!

Second cycle. I was temping but we honestly weren’t trying very hard that month so my BFP was kind of a surprise.
