Age: 26 (found out I was pregnant right before my birthday)

Weight: About 230 (size 16 — I’m tall, so about 50 extra pounds). I should add, though, that the BIGGER concern with weight is whether or not you’re ovulating. While my case would seem to suggest my weight = how long it took me to get pregnant, that wasn’t actually the case for us (DtD too often with a low sperm count, actually).

Cycles: 10

The day I threw out my birth control was the day we started trying to conceive. I had been on hormonal birth control for just over 2 years at that point.

MsKeee:  Love hearing this! I’m the same age (although weigh more) and I too have been on BC for many years. Started with the shot, then the pill for years, and I currently have had my Mirena for 5 years. I’m having it removed next week and hoping to start TTC soon. How was removal for you?

starfish0116:  the removal was totally fine – way easier than getting it in! Took like, a couple of seconds and didn’t really hurt. I didn’t have a period at all on it.  I got it out at the end of June, and then had a regular day of spotting every 28 days until September, then I had a full real period and got pregnant that cycle! I was a bit freaked out by the spotting periods from spending too much time on the TTC boards, but I think it is to be expected that you need a couple of months to build back up the lining.

Were you taking birth control right before trying to concieve? No BCP, I’ve never been on the pill or any other hormonal method. But we were using protection.

Anything you did different the month you conceived? No

Were you taking birth control right before trying to concieve? Nope, went off it 2 years before
Anything you did different the month you conceived? We had been using preseed and dtd every day or every other day…the month we conceived we didn’t use preseed and only dtd once in my fertile window – the day I ovulated

Were you taking birth control right before trying to concieve? Yes. I stopped taking the pill right after we came back from our honeymoon in late September. Conceived during my first cycle off of the pill in early November.

Anything you did different the month you conceived? Nope. Continued my normal health and nutrition lifestyle. I actually ran a half marathon around the time that I conceived. I had no existing health issues beforehand.

  • Were you taking birth control right before trying to concieve? Yes, went off in Jan, normal period in Feb and conceived after that period. So our first try!
  • Anything you did different the month you conceived? Nope, I used the Lady Timer app for iphone and made sure I had been taking folic acid and Dha since Jan when I went off BC.

AGE: 36

POUNDS: 130

MONTHS TRIED: Technically 4, but thanks to charting I knew we only hit our fertile window for 2 months.

Were you taking birth control right before trying to concieve?  No, got off nuvaring almost exactly 1 year before TTC

Anything you did different the month you conceived?  We charted, temped, added Pre-Seed, used Instead Cups, I ate pineapple core & also tried a few supplements that were supposed to help.

We were shocked that it only boiled down to 2 months of really trying!  Especially since I was worried about being otlder…

Age: 30

Pounds: 145ish

Months trying: 22

Were you taking birth control before trying to concieve? No, I stopped all hormonal birth control at least 6 months before we started trying.

Anything you did different the month you concieved? By 22 months we had tried pretty much everything but medical intervention. But the month it worked my husband had just started a new, much less stressful job. I did the legs up the wall afterwards, and my bfp came the night before my infertility clinic appointment. It was only done so I could tell the doctor that we were not pregnant, and turned out we were!!

Months tried: 2

Were you taking birth control right before trying to conceive? NuvaRing for 9-10 years, off BC for 5 months prior TTC

Anything different the month you conceived? Used Ovulation Kit, but my cycle is like clockwork, it was more a Type A thing. Used PreSeed.
