Hi so I came off the pill 3 months ago and still do not have a period however I knew it would be a while as a few years back I came off the contreceptive pill for a bit and it took 5 months before my period returned. I went and had tests done but came back all okay. I am naturally irregular so this is probably why so I’m expecting a few more months yet before I get a period and then we are going to try for a baby. I am expecting due to my naturally irregular periods that it could take me a while to concieve.
But yeah just curious how long it’s taken for other people really?

I’m curious too! I’m in the same boat as you- I’ve gone off the pill twice in the last ten years and both times took me a few months to get my period back. After a year off bc pills, my period becomes irregular and I have to start taking them again.

I wish I knew an answer for you. Mine showed up 2 days after I went off of them and was horribly painful /heavy/ etc.

I’m confused. Do you just take the pill constantly without breaks for your period? Because I finish my pack on Saturday and get my period like clockwork on Tuesday afternoon.

emmabird : No I mean I’ve come off the pill completely.
marmar88 : Annoying isn’t it wondering when will it arrive?!
emeraldbee : So good in the sense it came very quickly but not great that it was very painful and heavy. Did they continue to be heavy once off the pill? I remember when I was a teenager before going on the pill that my periods would last about 7 days but when I went on the pill they lasted about 4-5 days.

I have come off the pill two times in the 15 years I’ve been on it. Both times my cycle was regular immediately after coming off- ovulating around the 2 week period. & having a period about a month later. However, I was also regular from my very first period too so I’m not sure if that’s how it works for everyone. My periods last for right at 3 days every time.

That’s not unusual, don’t worry! Mine took almost 100 days. I started drinking a fertility tea after that (not TTC, just to get somewhat regular periods again). I’ve been off the pill for over a year now and my cycles are still between 30 and 40 days long.

My first cycle off was around 115 days. Second was over 50, third was around 45, and they progressively got shorter until they stayed around 35 days. I conceived on our first month TTC. I was charting my temp as well so I did confirm ovulation through that.
Good luck!

37 days after the period from my last one I had on BC. I have not regulated though after about 6 months I have 27-42 day between periods. But they are light and short now so I’m happy and very little cramping. I was on nuva ring last time, last time I came off pills it was really wonky and heavy and cramping heavy. Took about two months for it to come back.

Cycle 1: 40 days, Cycle 2 : 75 days and counting , Saying that I’m frustrated would be a understanding, ughhh so annoying.

I got my withdrawl bleeding and then my next cycle completey off the pill was 38 days long. I got off the pill 2 years ago and it wasn’t uncommon for me to have 40-60 day cycles afterwards. I would say it took me about 1 year to become regular again and now my cyles are about 35 days long.

Debsy : I don’t know, yet. I just went off the pill earlier this month. Hopefully they won’t stay bad, but they were awful before the pill, so I think they may.

I went off the pill and got my period as usual when I would have been on the non-pill week. I never missed it, the cycle just never normalized anywhere from 29 to 35 days. I got pregnant 1 year after I went off the pill, wasnt trying.

I just went off the pill this month. I kind of messed up cause I had my usual pill period, then took about a week of pills as we were going out of town and then totally stopped once we got back into town. Then I had another period a few days after stopping and now I seem to be doing okay. From what I can tell by my DC I’m currently ovulating or about to ovulate so I’m hoping that means my cycle will be regular.
