I went to seven stores. I probably tried on about 60 dresses. In the end, I went with a dress that made me super excited when I tried it on. It was the only dress that ever made me feel this way and my family and friends were crying. I second guessed it the whole way up until the wedding though. 🙂

The first one I tried on was the one I picked. I did try in about 12 others but we knew it was that one. I was fortunate though, because the boutique I went to was stocked with the styles I loved. Don’t stress, you will find one you love. Have you tried going alone to an appointment? I feel like sometimes we as brides try to “share” every part of the process to make everyone happy and feel included, but sometimes trying things alone (for stuff your Fiance doesnt care about) can make it a happier experience. Good luck!

I went to 2 stores in one day and tried on a total of about 15 dresses. I thought I found the one, but I also didn’t have the “OMG this is it”, reaction. I knew I felt slightly unsure and so I left, and planned to go back and try the dress one more time on a different day. I then ended up going to an entirely different store to just see there selection; I ended up buying a gown that day.. it was probaby the 6th I tried on in that particulair store. I still didnt have an emotional moment but I knew as soon as I stepped into it I was going to like the way it looked. I think I knew it was the one because it was the dress I was most excited to see myself in/I felt the most confident in/ and the dress I kep comparing all others too.
My advice is to try a few more until youre excited about one, and then just stop! Trying to many on will get very confusing. Also, don’t look at any others dresses ANYWHERE, after you buy yours. Don’t look in stores, don’t look online, and don’t look on this website. If you do you will have second thoughts… it just happens! And sometimes those thoughts lead to additional purchases that are not necessary!

I purchased 3 dresses (exchanging the first 2 to get to the third) but for me it was 3rd times a charm. I didn’t get the OMG, tears, the whole nine feeling but I couldn’t see myself in anything else!

One shop – four hours. We tried on old favorites a couple of times to narrow it down.

it’s funny you say that because the next appointment I made, I plan on going by myself, which I’m hoping will give me more clarity. I think I feed off my moms reactions, and most of her rreactions are lackluster, so I’ve been picking up in that vibe. Hoping flying solo might help!
that’s such good advice. All I want is to get excited about a dress and I haven’t really felt that way about any of them yet. All I felt was stiff and uncomfortable!! And you are so right, once I find the one, I need to stop looking and watching syttd– I wont be able to deal with dress regret lol 😉

I went dress shopping at 2 stores and never felt a “this is the one moment”. However, my sister who was with me and the girl helping me at the first store both had a strong reaction to one dress in particular. I liked the dress, but I still wasn’t having a strong emotional reaction. However, it was different than anything else I had seen. I liked the fact that it was unique, so I went with that one.
Last night I had my first fitting, and I can tell you, I finally had the moment I had been expecting when I got to see the dress fit me (after being pinned) for the first time.
So don’t feel discouraged. Just go with your gut. Good luck!

The third dress I tried on at the first store I went to. I kept trying things on and nothing gave me the reaction that this dress did. Honestly I can’t wait to wear it!

For me price was a factor too. I found a dress on craigslist that I really liked, I went to the woman’s house and tried it on, it fit well, I liked it and the price was right! But I didn’t want to get the 5th dress I tried on (I had done some inital shopping with my mom early on), so I went to a couple other bridal salons and tried on maybe 10 more dresses total. After that I was sold on the craigslist dress, so I called the girl back and picked it up the next day!

I went to 2 stores in September, 1 store in November, and 4 stores in December (2 of those were repeats). I have no idea how many dresses I tried on, it had to have been at least 30. None of the dresses made me emotional, but when I found the one, I think I just knew.
I started smiling when I saw myself in it and it just made me feel pretty. I went with just my mom to almost all my appointments, except my last 2 when I invited some friends and my Future Mother-In-Law. Most of them liked another dress, but that just solidified my decision to choose the first dress because I felt so much better in that one.
i got lucky and was able to buy my dress on preownedweddingdresses.com in my size for $300 less than what it cost at the store.
Sometimes it takes some time and maybe the one you choose won’t make you cry, but you’ll find it and you’ll know when you do! Good luck 😀

I went to 6 shops and thought I’d never find a dress I loved! I found many I liked, but I didn’t feel like any of them were very “me.” The thing is, there isn’t really a floor length white gown that’s “me” because I’ve never worn one!
I ended up going shopping by myself one evening (I was very nervous going alone), but I had done some research on gowns I wanted to try on since I had figured out what I wasn’t liking. I found one that I couldn’t stop smiling in and even though I didn’t cry or have one of those moments you see on tv, I was excited about the gown and it just felt right. Granted, I went home thought about it for a few more days, took my maid of honor with me back to the store and THEN finally put some money down.
Nothing is ever going to be perfect, but know what you like and what you don’t like. I would suggest researching gowns online first or having an idea of what you want to try on. And definitely try going alone! Good luck!

I tried on three dresses. My dress was the last one I tired. I think we were in the store for 45 minutes!

I knew what I wanted and didn’t want. I tried on about 5 dresses and then as soon as I put mine on I said “oh wow” my mom cried and I had butterflies. I ordered it that day. I knew it was the one! I didn’t want to take it off. Fast forward 5 months when my dress came in. I loved it even more ! I can’t wait until July!
