We met on a blind date almost a year before we got engaged. It was long distance and were only “officially” dating for 5 months when he popped the question. We had to elope for the military last summer and are having our big wedding in October, which will be nearly 3 years since we first met.

A little short of 3 years, most of it long distance. We were friends for a few years before dating though.

londonbeeee : Some people don’t need 5+ years to decide if they’re ready for marriage or not. I would never date anyone that long without a bigger commitment unless we got together when we were still teenagers. To each their own though.

Met when we were 24 and 26, got engaged after a year and a half. Most of our friends dated much longer than that before getting engaged, but I think my husband understood that getting engaged was important to me and that waiting for years would’ve been stressful for me. A year and a half was a good amount of time for us in terms of feeling sure that we had gotten to know each other but also not having a super long wait.

10 months before proposal and 1 year and 3 months before wedding.

14 months. we were 30 and 32. It was honestly a bit quick and I think it’s generally smarter to wait 2 years (it worked for us though!)
