There was not an option for my situation. We moved in together when we got engaged, which was almost at the 5 year mark.

I moved in at 5 months, we were engaged at 7 months, and married 1 year and 1 month after we were engaged.

9 months. Which was way too soon, frankly. If I had it to do over again I’d wait two years.

We moved in together after 5 months of officially dating and we were engaged 2 months later. It’s a short amount of time, but everything just felt so right! We’re both pushing thirty, madly in love with one another and have the same vision regarding what we want out of life (marriage, 2 kids, etc.). Sometimes you just have to forget the timelines and go with your gut. We can’t wait to start our lives with each other! 🙂

We moved in together on our two month anniversary, but ours was an odd situation. We had been friends for about 3 years before we had started dating and were part of a group of friends who had talked about all renting a house together for a while. Then, just shy of two months into our official relationship, the opportunity presented itself and we moved into a house with three other people.

However, I agree about the resons why those “rules” are usually put into place. People don’t want random dates in their wedding pictures for years to come and in order to not get into debates of who’s relationship is more “serious” than others, you sometimes have to put arbitrary guidelines on plus ones. Our guidelines were no plus ones unless you are engaged or married.

In order to maintain a resonable number in guest lists and to not get into fights with people over who is in a “wedding-worthy” relationship, people have to set guidelines and stick with them. Don’t take it as a personal attack.

We had dated for five months before moving in together – we’ve been together for 2 years, 8 months now.

Oh, and to follow up on the rest of the relationship. Moved in on our two month anniversary. Got engaged about 11 months into the relationship. Had a year and a half engagement, which put us as getting married about 2 and 1/2 years after officially dating. Of course we had known each other for 3 years prior to that.

We dated for 4 years before moving in together. But we started dating at 15 and 17, so we waited until my sophomore year of college to start living together. We have been together 9 1/2 years.

lol there’s no option for 5 years, so I didn’t vote. But that’s what it is.
