We dated 2.5 years before the proposal and I was getting antsy. We did long distance for a year, then I moved abroad to be with him giving up alot in the process. I was ready and he felt he was too. Orginally we planned a long engagement but with family in three countries, we had to move it up a bit.
His friends and family probably think we rushed it as most people around here date for many years and a few kids before getting married (well at least in his family). But my family thought it was forever haha.
We’re also both nearing 30 which I think had a lot to do with it. If I had been younger I think I would have waited longer but we want kids soon and we want to be married before that.
I truly think it depends on the couple and what they are comfortable with. I know people that dated 2 months and then get engaged/married and they’re still going strong. Same for my friends that dated 10 years before getting marrid. It’s all about the couple. Good luck!
