Contrary to the popular belief that young brides are rushing into marriage, I know many of us have dated our SOs for quite a while. I’ve known Fiance for 12 years and we dated 5 1/2 years before getting engaged. We’re both 23 now. How long did you date before getting engaged?

Exactly 3 years, he proposed on our 3 year anniversary 🙂

We dated for 14.5 months, which is pretty short!
We originally planned for a long, almost 2 year engagement… Then life changed (no, I’m not pregnant…), and we had a great window to move the wedding up by a year and save almost 10K on the wedding!
So we said “Okay, let’s do this!” and planned our ENTIRE wedding in December/January, with our date being in May!
Originally I said I wanted to date for 2-3 years before getting engaged, with an 18 month MINIMUM… But he bought my ring on tax free date and couldn’t wait that long!
We were both really ready, though.
