Well, I went and tried on rings, got sized, etc. around 9 months ago. And then about a month ago we went back because they had purged the information. We did this less than a week before we moved cross country and I was annoyed because I thought he wouldn’t have time to get the ring anyway, and I thought it was a waste of packing time to not wait until we got to the new place.
Needless to say, my fiance had my ring in his posession for about an hour before he proposed, which was less than 12 hours before we moved lol.

Mine took about 2 weeks from the time I picked it out until he got it back and in my size. He actually got it back 2 weeks earlier than we were told, so I ended up having a little surprise proposal!

We first looked last July, but didnt find anything we liked. Then we went again in November, found “the ring” and he bought it the first week of December, we were engaged on NYE. But the ring took 10 weeks to come in! So he purposed with a loaner from the store so I didnt have to wait longer. And on Valentines Day (also our 6 year anniversary!) I got my real ring! It was worth the wait 🙂

Almost two months between him actually purchasing and proposing! My biggest piece of advice is don’t get stressed and freak out about when he is going to do it. While I am obviously over the moon about my engagement, I wish I would have let myself relax a little more during the time. You want him to ask you when he is ready (and just because he doesn’t do it right after doesn’t mean he doesn’t love you enough!!) and have the time to plan something for you. Easier said than done though!!

I waited a year and a half. I didn’t rush him. It was his moment too. It was worth the wait. I don’t understand some bees that want to rush their SO. Enjoy the wait…cuz once your engaged..planning a wedding is super stressful.

I waited 2 weeks after we went looking… but thought I was going to have to wait 6+ months! Seriously… he was always talking about this 5 year plan, and we had only been dating for a little over 3 so I figured I’d be waiting a LONG time.
We went looking on a Friday. He purchased the ring a week and 3 days later (Monday)… and proposed that Saturday (same week!).
I was shocked, and surprised… and super excited! It helped that once my house sold and I could finally help him pay for his house (and the bills), he was able to save more money each month. Plus, he knew when he wanted to propose on a specific day (February 15, and we had plans with friends/family that night already), and he said that day crept up on him and we should have looked a lot sooner. But, the ring I have is the ring I really wanted so it didn’t matter if we had looked more.

- Wedding: June 2016 - Boettcher Mansion
We went looking towards the end of May, and he waited until our 5 year anniversary at the very end of August to propose. The ring he had gotten me was technically promise ring, though, so he “upgraded” it this past Valentine’s Day with the ring I will wear the rest of my life. 🙂 I love it, it was worth the wait!

beb08: Really I can’t get over the detailing on your ring. It’s a work of art!
FutureMrsCho2016: Your forever ring is lovely! I was never into jewelry until we started ring shopping, but boy have I grown to love me some ring porn. Beautiful, sparkly little sculptures. 🙂 Thanks for the picture!

pinkcorsage: Is your stone purple-y like that in real life? Gorgeous color! I love how sleek your set is.

whatsinaname15: Yes! It’s iolite in a dark shade of purple. This is it in natural light (sun light) and it’s still very purple.

whatsinaname15: We looked for around a year and a half to find exactly what I wanted. FI is seriously so patient haha, we went on like 14 trips to different jewelers. I finally decided last August what I wanted, and he purchased it then. I had to wait until October to get it, but it was so worth the wait so that he could have time to plan his proposal on his own terms 🙂 Here’s my sparkly!

whatsinaname15: My Fiance and I just ordered my custom ring today! We originally picked the setting together at another store, but I didn’t like the diamonds offered at that store so I ended up getting my diamond and the setting custom made from an online vendor! Apparently, it’ll take about 4 weeks to have it made, but I’m wondering how long it’ll be until he actually proposes! I’m excited to see how it’ll look too- I’m just a little concerned because I won’t be able to see it in person until they’re done with it and they send it to me.
I asked my Fiance if he’s going to propose during spring quarter (our last quarter as college undergrads!), but he said he’s not sure. Either spring quarter or in the summer. I think he’s aiming for mid-summer (we graduate in June), but that’s sooo far away! I mean my birthday is in July, but hopefully he proposes before that.. 🙂
