A friend of mine had a really cute story. She and her now husband had been separated for an extended time while they were dating. They had arranged for her to come down for a quick visit. When his pastor saw them together he basically told the guy that he would be crazy not to ask her. They went for a walk and he did. She was so excited that she didn’t even think about the ring; suddenly he noticed and said, “we better go shopping and buy you a ring!” They went and picked one out together the same afternoon.
I’ve always loved that story. So sweet!
Sorry to be a little off topic, don’t know what brought this to mind. . .

- Wedding: Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception/The Gallery
We went shopping around Christmas and found something we both loved. He decided he wanted to get a bigger stone than we had originally thought, but knew he wasn’t quite ready to pull the trigger financially so I had a bit of a wait ahead of me (6 months or less).
Then I got cold feet about the ring so we went to look some more (this was about a month and a half ago or so), and settled on the first one we picked. Phew! So, now I wait! I’m pretty sure it will happen in the next month or so, but definietly on or before our 3rd anniversary in early June.
Sometimes the anticipation feels like forever, but I know it’s coming, so that helps. I just can’t wait to marry him–and have that gorgeous thing on my finger!

It took about a month just because the ring had to be resized and he was away for three weeks with work. i wanted to pick it up with him. Then we just popped it on my finger! Done.

whatsinaname15: My Fiance asked my dad to design/make my ring. I knew because he asked for my parents blessing and I was there (very surprised). When he asked my dad to make my ring, it was 2 nights before we left for a trip to Jamaica. Then a week after we came back, my dad and Fiance went to purchase the materials – my dad is a goldsmith so he knew the suppliers and vendors. Then 2 weeks later, it was complete. My Fiance, however, kept it for 2 weeks because he had no idea how to present it to me – he wanted to ask me again with the ring. He proposed again this past Tuesday, on our anniversary and here’s my ring:
In total, I waited 1 month and a half. LONGEST wait ever! LOL.

gemabride: That ring is so lovely and unique! And how special that your dad made it for you! Love love love.
DrunkInLove: “I just can’t wait to marry him-and have that gorgeous thing on my finger!” – my sentiments exactly!!

We’ve been together for so long (10 years), and have been through a lot in the last few, and calling him my “boyfriend” hasn’t felt right for a while now. He stopped correcting people who think I’m his wife years ago. I’ve never been particularly excited about getting married, but lately I’ve been feeling weird about not having the right word for him when talking to other people (boyfriend? common-law husband? partner? ugh). I guess now that it’s imminent, I’m anxious to get the (very pretty) ring so I can finally have a more appropriate word to use – fiancee. 🙂
Almost no one knows we’ve been shopping so I can’t really talk about my anticipation with anyone in real life – thank goodness for you bees and your beautiful pictures to help pass the time!!
