We got engaged on a Friday and booked our venue on Monday afternoon. We knew where we wanted the wedding to be, and because it’s popular, we wanted to make sure we got it early. Of course, we had been talking a lot ahead of time, so we knew we didn’t want to look at other venues or anything. We made most of our other planning sessions over the summer (we got engaged in April).

For two weeks we didn’t tell anyone (except immediately family) we were engaged. We just wanted sometime to ourselves to be engaged. Then we put it on Facebook. But it still took us a month to start anything.

We got engaged in May, and waited until we had moved (we were planning on buying a house where FH lived, and me moving over the summer) and we started planning in August – so I waited 3 months to start planning (which I am glad I did – I had way too much going on buying a house, moving to a new city, getting a new job – to plan a wedding)

Well, I’m not engaged yet….but I’ve done lots of research. We picked our date already, so once the bf makes it “official,” we will visit some venues and make some real decisions!

I think I waited just a few hours before planning. That sounds bad. It probably is. Oh well. I got the venue I wanted by planning so early so I guess it worked out.

got engaged August 29, 2009, started planning August 30, 2009. Lol. Seriously, I started planning the next day. My OCD kicked in I had to get things organized, and start a much needed to-do list. I think it’s all up to the couple though.

A year! I know, how was I able to be so patience. Its called work, volunteering and trying to get into grad school. My Fiance and I got engaged Dec 08 and we are planning a Jan 2011 wedding. We wanted to have a long engagement and we have so many other things going on within our lives that we didn’t really plan it. But, since its Jan 2011, we have to get started.

We were engaged last Christmas and slacked for maybe three months. We ended up not getting our choice June date, and had to go with August. I think it ended up working out because the weather here in June has been very foggy the last two years.

We started planning before we got officially engaged. Actually, we looked at venues the afternoon we got engaged.

We got engaged Labor Day Weekend and started planning THAT night!!! Unfortunately…His family was pressuring us SO when is it what are the colors, bridesmaids, location, ETC. It was very unsettling. SO that night we chose a date (10/10/10) and said we were looking at Charleston. About a month of planning aka contacting venues and vendors etc we went down to Charleston and looked at venues. Then when we got back we were like we are not ready to start doing this!!! So we stopped planning for about 2 months and around the beginning of December we decided (officially) that we are going to get married where we got engaged! We are going down over NYE weekend to look at our venue. Everything is now falling into place and its been MUCH better just taking things easy as opposed to crazily planning everything! Someone saw my ring and told me that being engaged is the worst part!! Im kind of in agreement – Ive never seen this side of my fiance’s family before and it was shocking! Though, it is making us realize as a couple that we can deal with anything! So my advice to you – is to just take things one step at a time, dont rush and things will happen in their own time!

We were engaged for about six moths, so we got to work right away. Within three weeks, we’d signed contracts for the venue and caterer.

we got engaged on a saturday night in mid-october, and i started emailing venues sunday afternoon! we visited the venues that week, our venues on friday and saturday, and asked them for contracts right away. we knew we wanted to get married next august because we’ll most likely be moving next summer (i was applying to grad school at the same time as starting the wedding planning–crazy!) and i have a few cousins getting married earlier in the summer, so it was important to us to nail down a date asap. we’d already thought about and discussed some venues though, so it wasn’t hard to start the planning…
