    15 months!

He proposed in July, two months after I graduated from university. I wanted a September wedding and there was no way I was going to plan a wedding in two months!

@Socrates:You never cease to amaze me with the blatantly offensive things you type. Clearly a long engagement MUST mean the guy doesn’t want to get married! Of course! 49% of all the brides who answered MUST be nagging girlfriends!

My husband and I got engaged in August and married in March.  Your engagement can be as short or as long as you want or need it to be.  There’s no real rule.

We were engaged for 9 months. It made planning go by very quickly-so we had to stay organized!

@Socrates: I agree with that. “If people are afraid to set a date, I wonder”. To me, it is a very large red flag.

As far as long engagments? It depends on each individual case. For us, it was 9 months. We wanted to get married, I planned it all in nine months and here I am as a Mrs.  We aren’t rich and money was very tight, but in my case, I am up there in years and didn’t need the 50 grand budget for the princess wedding with all the frills. If I DID want that? We would have had to be engaged much longer, I assume, to make the money we needed first.

9 months to the day! For me, had I have spent any more time thinking about it or planning, I would have lost my mind, but that’s becauseI hate, hate planning things! Ihave some friends who have been engaged for years though

Just under 6 months!!! Everyone probably thinks I’m pregnant, but we just want to be married! We have already been together for 5 years, and we live together, so there doens’t seem a point in waiting a super long time. Also I’m a teacher so I wanted to do it during the summer, and he proposed in December… really didn’t want to wait a whole year and a half ! It’s been super hectic, but everything is coming together really well. Helps that we picked a Friday evening date, so there are still some openings in terms of venue and services.

7 months and a week.  He proposed in late July and we were already planning on him joining the Navy, so we wanted to get married before he would leave for training.  December was too soon, so we’re getting married THIS WEEKEND which is the first week of his spring break!!
