8 month engagement (it would have been 6, but a few factors came into the picture:some were friends and family events/Easter/and which week he wanted off for honeymoon etc)

1 day shy of 22 months.  When we got engaged Fiance knew I wanted a St. Patty’s Day wedding, so that ment waiting until 2012 for it to be on a weekend.

Five months. I don’t think i’d have wanted it any shorter, but I don’t think I’d have wanted more than a year tops (though you can factor in to that the fact that we didn’t live together — or sleep together — until our wedding night, so I wasn’t about to wait too long!) But really, for us it was just how the timing worked out. Once we knew we wanted to get married, it was more a matter of figuring out when, practically, it could happen. Neither of us were in school or had debt. I had a bit of money saved up for a simple wedding. We knew we wanted to get married outside, so it couldn’t be winter. And we had to get married when my brother was on break from school or he might not have been able to come. So that narrowed it down to August or the following summer, and we really didn’t want to wait another year.

We’ll be just over 4 years once it’s all said and done. We got engaged in the spring of our sophomore year of college (after being together for 3 years), then we decided to wait until after we graduated to plan and pay for a wedding. Also, he had a touch of cold feet – which made it all the more sweet when he said out of the blue six months after we graduated: “Why don’t you start planning that wedding – I know it’s you I want for the rest of my life!”

Engaged in November 2006, married December 2010. To be honest, it was because we couldn’t agree on anything wedding related. We have 2 kids, and they were the only thing we could agree on- 2 perfect flower girls! I have 1 nephew, he has 11. He has 4 nieces, I have none. I have younger cousins that mean the world to me, a 12 year old boy, a 12 year old girl, a 9 year old girl, an 8 year old boy, and a 7 year old boy. We wanted to include them all but couldn’t and argued about who would do what. It was terrible! Couldn’t agree on colors, location, officiant, reception venue, anything. We never set a date because we knew we wouldn’t ever agree on anything and before we knew it, the date would be here with nothing planned. Hubby wanted to do EVERYTHING oursleves and while I’m okay with a little DIY, I didn’t want him cooking for our wedding- it’s his day too!!!! Picky man….

We eventually went to the courthouse and guess what? It was absolutely perfect. Jeans and sweaters, just us, our kids, my sister and nephew and his best friend. Definitely glad we went this route, even if it was 4 years later….

We decided to wait about 8 months just to get things organized and nice for the wedding. My soon to be groom is older so we wanted to get married soon to start a family (want to be married first).
