Hi all,
I’ve been nosing around here quite a bit lately, and I’m just curious: how long did your BF wait after he got the ring to propose? I’m fairly certain that my BF has had the ring for about a week already, and my guess is I won’t hear that magical question until December or so (or, at least, that’s what I’m telling myself so that I don’t drive myself insane now!).
I know everyone is in a very different situation, but I’d love to hear all of your stories!
Thank you and happy Tuesday!

I picked out the ring & he bought it the same day in November 2014. Proposed in May 2015.

Within a week of picking it up. We were going on vacation the day after he picked it up, and he proposed on our trip.

My Fiance had the ring for 5 months before proposing.

I think he waited about 5 days lol. I had no idea he even had it so at least I wasn’t tortured with the knowledge that the ring was in the house!

He bought the ring in June, and proposed the day after he paid it off and brought it home from the jewelry store in October.

scipioblack : I am not exactly sure. I remember my mom asking me random questions for about 3 weeks before christmas, and he asked me on christmas LOL. So maybe a couple of weeks. But he had been talking about one for 1-2 months.

He proposed without a ring. We ordered a stand in so I had something to wear, and he is having a ring made now. We were ready to start planning because we want a short engagement (getting married this Dec) and I’ve been super indecisive about a ring. We might just have him give me the ring during the wedding!

One day from when he got it. Which is why I’m always confused when guys spend months sitting on the ring like it is going to eventually going to hatch.

scipioblack : The ring was purchased in June on my birthday this year. The proposal will happen before December. We want to be engaged before the year is over and we are attending my cousin’s wedding in December where my extended family will be present so that will be the first time he will meet my extended family & he will meet them as my fiance. My wait is between 5 and 6 months. It seems on this board there are varying reasons for the time chosen for engagement.

About 6 weeks. He wanted to do it a few weeks earlier but had to push his plans back until after the wine harvest. It was definitely worth the wait though 😊

About a month. Fiance was going to propose on Christmas but his brother talked him out of it because he said it was cheesey. (For the record, I would have loved it, but FI’s plan B was great as well.)

So many wonderful stories!
And
futuremrsco : , I definitely agree that there are so many different reasons that people wait, and it’s interesting to hear about them all! I can understand getting the perfect ring and then wanting to wait for the perfect moment… which may not be until a few months down the road for some. As much as I whine internally about it, it has to be somewhat stressful for them as well! I know my guy had expressed before he got the ring that he’d be afraid he’d lose it or I’d find it, and he’s been adorably terrible at surprising me with gifts and such before, so I’m just interested to observe how he handles all of this. lol
desertgypsy : That’s a fabulous way to do it as well! I imagine that took a lot of pressure off. 🙂

scipioblack : My Fiance bought the ring 1 year before proposing. He said he wanted the timing to be perfect and to catch me completely off guard. He also wanted to have the ring completely paid off before proposing.

He had it for about a month. His plans kept getting rained out.
