Here I am, trying to apply logic to an illogical situation, as if knowing how long other people wait will tell me how long I’ll be waiting. But whatever, gives me some sense of control, right? Lol
For girls who went ring shopping with their dudes, how long after that first visit did you have to wait for the proposal?

If I remember correctly, it was around 6 months. At first we couldn’t decide on a ring style that he liked and that I actually wanted to wear, then he had to order it, then he had to wait for it to come in, and between all of that there was his natural tendency to procrastinate. So yeah, around half a year.

Oh shit. Sorry. I voted before I read your post! I said 1 week because I thought you were asking between when he had the ring and when it was on my finger. He ordered it on etsy, it was delievered on Tuesday and we were engaged on Thursday. We didn’t go ring shopping together. He browsed my pinterest board and bought based on that.

I didn’t have to wait at all so none above on your post. I was never a waiting bee.

It was only about 3.5 months after the initial ring shopping event that he proposed. That was a very busy time with lots of travel for work and vacation and also meeting each other’s parents, so I never really felt like I was “waiting.”

We went about it backwards. We picked the venue in September, I showed him rings I liked in September/october and he proposed in November about two weeks after he recieved the ring. (Took 6 weeks because it was custom made). He wanted to plan a unique proposal, it took a couple weeks to get an idea and it was pretty awesome!

I did what the above poster did….chose the venue then got the ring. It wasn’t quite a month from shopping to proposal…about a week shy.

I can’t vote because we did it sort of backwards. We set a wedding date and then got formally engaged closer to the wedding date. We didn’t go ring shopping initially because DH proposed with a family diamond. Later we customized it and added bands. I didn’t actually get my wedding jewelry figured out until after we were married.

8 months…. we were planning the wedding (booking things) about a month and a half before he officially proposed.

DH had the ring for AN ENTIRE YEAR before he proposed! He was waiting for the perfect moment. I was in school and he needed to know what time frame I had in mind. I had just started Xray Tech program and it was 2 years long. I told him that I didn’t want to get married while I was in school. I finished June 2002 and we got married July 2002.
Before he asked me, he kept bringing me back to the store to look at rings even though mine was in the safe. AND they had to keep a written record of what they told me why “my ring” was no longer in the case. He is such a pain in the arse! But I love him! We’ve been together 19 years and married for 13!

We were discussing getting married and where we would have it around 6-8 months in. Few months after that we went ring shopping, and he proposed about 3 months after the shopping.
If he didn’t propose within the month that he did, I was going to propose to him lol I had a whole plan and everything. Just cuz I wanted a full 18 months to plan the wedding, so if we didn’t get engaged this winter, it would have to be put off another year 🙂

After we went ring shopping that was it. He put it on my finger in the store and we called it a day. That was 9 months into our relationship and we are happily married now.

LOL! DH and I randomly went to a mall jewelry store shortly after our initial search for e-rings at a local store. He suggested the visit but hoped I didn’t change my mind on my top choices because he had already bought the ring! What was he thinking? It’s a good thing I’m set in my ways.

3 months. We did alot online, or I did alot of online looking, before we actually went to the store. If you counted from when I started the online stuff and showing him probably more like 6 months.

We went ring shopping starting 2 years into our relationship while on vacation in Aruba. I then let it go. At 2.5 years we went to look again and he asked me how i would feel about buying a house instead of spending the $ on a ring. I agreed it would be a better use of $ and we looked for houses and the plan was to get engaged after we moved in.. well it took about 5 months to close due to the holidays and the fact that it was an estate sale and the family was all over the place. It then took us a year and and a few months to renovate before we moved in. After a few months i brought the subject up again and he told me to pick something because he was confused by all the times i changed my mind about what i wanted. I decided to go custom and designed the ring and told him to order it when he was ready. After almost another year, i lost my patience and let him have it. From what i now know, he ordered it shortly after and i know he got it a month later because hes scatter brained and had it sent to our house so i signed for it. I played dumb and our friend that was living us at the time covered and said he signed for it. It took another almost 6 months for him to propose.
All in all it was 4 years since we first went ring shopping and 6 years together before he proposed.
