Our ceremony was only 15-20 mins, cocktail hour, and 4 hour reception, so a little under 6 hours.  However, we also had an after party from midnight to about 4 or 5 AM.  Altogether it was about 10-11 hours (US bride).

    EDIT: we started around 6pm

Ours will be 10 hours. The reception will go til 2. All the weddings I have been to last about that long. If its a church wedding it’s usually more like 12 hours total with a 2 hour gap after the ceremony. I can’t imagine having a wedding be over after 4 hours!

Our ceremony is at 6 in the same location as the reception. Standard for this location is 6-10. We’re paying extra to have it go to 11.

@mypinkshoes:  Ridiculously fast! I felt like I blinked and the entire day was gone. It’s kind of sad LOL, how much time we spend planning this day, and it is over in an instant.

My family is latin and so is DH’s family… so as you all know… parties tend to go long… Our wedding was 12 hours and it didn’t even seem like it was a drag haha.

I always wanted a day wedding, but the earliest available ceremony in our church was 11AM. So we had ceremony from 11-12, then did alone pictures from 12:30-1PM, then food from 1:30-2:15pm ish… then had a surprise mariachi band at 3pm until 6pm, then a DJ… etc…

We have our venure rented for a maximum of four hours, so everything is fitting into that time frame.  Which is fine with us cuz we r not having all the traditional reception elements.

@ltj14:  Officially ours runs from 5pm until 10pm when the noise ordinance kicks in and we have to move everything inside.  But we plan to continue partying until midnight or later inside the beach house we rented for the wedding.  We only expect 10-20 guests to stay that late though so it really isn’t part of the wedding, it’s the after party.  We’re enticing everyone to come inside with a nacho bar and leftover cake/dessert.
