Honestly, some babies are never even in newborn diapers. It really depends on each individual baby, and that’s why a lot of people say to not buy a lot of one size in case you don’t use them.

Depends on the size of your baby. If it’s a 10 pounder, they might not fit at all or maybe just the first week or so. Newborns go through a TON of diapers, so I don’t think you can ever have too many.

It all depends how fast and big the baby is.  Our little man was in new born diapers for over 3 months. He was 5lbs 2 oz when he was born….

Newborns tend to lose weight after they are born and it generally takes 1 – 2 weeks after birth for them to get back to their original birth weight… you will probably go through about 10 diapers/day so if you have an average weight baby (7-8 lbs) you shouldn’t waste any diapers. Our daughter will be 4 weeks on tuesday and she is still rocking the newborns (weight 7lbs 7 oz when born)

Mine never wore them.  He was in 1’s at the hospital because I apparently incubate toddlers.   Not very helpful I know, I just felt like sharing.

Newborns don’t move much so I’m sure the diapers will probably fit even if it’s a big baby. My daughter was 9lbs 10 oz and never fit into anything labeled “newborn”, but that’s not a typical baby weight. As babies grow (3-4 months) and move around more, barely fitting diapers won’t work.

An average sized baby (7-8lbs) will probably be in newborns for a month tops.  A little trick someone taught me: Any diapers that you buy or someone gives you, you should staple the receipt to the bottom of the box in case you need to return them.  Don’t open any until you are ready to use them.  Then you can easily exchange them if need be. Also, when I had my son 3 yrs ago, Walmart would take back diapers unopened without a receipt (no matter if you bought them there or not) as long as it’s a brand they sell for exchange only. Hope this helps.

Oh, it totally depends on the baby, all babies are born and grow at a different pace. My LO had  had those diapers cause he was soo tiny. My sisters oldest on the other hand didn’t even use them.

It does depend on that baby, but for an average sized newborn, I’d say 2 weeks tops.

You will definitely use them!  Our little guy was 8lb 10oz and is 3 weeks old and still in newborn size.  We went through 2 large boxes, and had lots of size 1’s on hand so we are using those now but the adhesive pieces are overlapping to make the diapers tight enough.

Definitely depends on the size of your baby, but we went through 96 diapers within the first week of DS’s life.  🙂  You’ll be changing every 2 hours (or sooner!), so if you have an “average” sized baby, I’d say you’ll definitely use up that box of newborn diapers.
