@mrskisstobe: I wouldn’t buy them more than a few weeks out or they may get that stale taste to them.  Also, after the holidays, it’s usually the holiday colored ones that go on sale (red & green, pastel, fall colors, etc) and not the silver ones.  Maybe you can get them at Sam’s club, B.J.’s, Costco, etc in bulk to save some money.

I’ve found ones buried in my purse for I don’t know how long and they’ve been fine πŸ˜‰ I would maybe wait until the Easter sales though just so they’re not too old.

it was a huge burden on me and all but in the name of weddingbee, i just went and ate two hershey kisses that i know for a fact have been sitting at the bottom of a candy dish for, oh, about a year. tasted just like new! but i agree that the ones that go on sale after the holidays are the holiday-themed ones and you might be better of at costco or something like that for all silver ones.

According to the Hershey’s website they are best up until 1 year from the manufacture date.

@Quietserenity: other stuff keeps getting put on top of them, and every time i see them pop up at the bottom i think “oh they’re old” and don’t eat them. they are halloween wrappers so it’s easy to know they are the old ones. but since we needed some scientific experimentation done here, i took one for the team πŸ™‚

@pb and j: LOL! You’re hilarious! Thank you for your sacrifice πŸ˜‰ Is it bad I didn’t think of actual kisses when I read the post?! I immediately went to chocolate…

I did hugs and kisses for our wedding in July. But I really wanted the pink and red ones that come out at Valentines Day. So I bought them in Feb, put them in sealed containers, and put them on my basement cement floor and they were still fine by July and I still have a bunch left that I eat here and there and they still havent turned white.

Wow, thank you so much for posting this thread! Good thing I searched for it before posting another one! πŸ˜‰ My wedding’s in July and I need red and gold hugs/kisses. My mom is nervous about my plan of getting them during the post christmas/v-day sales. lol she thinks that they’ll go stale and taste funky. πŸ˜› I told her about the different things that you ladies have said. She’s still a bit iffy, but I’m sure she’ll come around. Thank you! πŸ˜€

pb and j: Haha, you go girl! Thanks for taking one for the team! πŸ™‚
