We are taking pictures before the ceremony. How long will portraits take?
First Look? We will do additional pics after the ceremony
Bridal Party? We only have 4 bridesmaids and 4 groomsmen
Family? We each only have parents and 1 sibling

We had our first look at 3pm, and had portraits with and without the bridal party until about 5:30pm (ceremony was a 6) – we travelled to the ceremony location in that time as well (15-20 minutes), so if you are doing your first look onsite you may not need as much time. Then we did a few portraits with just immediate family members after the ceremony that only took about 15 minutes, nothing fancy.

@Future Fleischer: Talk to your photographer about it! Every photographer is going to be different in how much time they like to comfortably do your portraits. For us, first looks are usually pretty fast, 10 minutes tops. Bridal party and artistic photos of just the couple are really up to how much time the client allots for us. We can usually get enough in 30 minutes, but in a perfect world we’d like up to an hour or more depending on locations. We have family portraits down to a small science. It takes us about 3 minutes per pose for family photos, assuming everyone is where they need to be when we start. If we have to do them indoors we need an additional 5 to 10 minutes to set up lighting.
