(Closed) How long do you give vendors to reply?

    I voted three days, but it sort of depends on when in the week it is. If it’s like Tuesday, I would expect to hear back by Thursday. If it is Friday, then I don’t expect to hear back until Monday or Tuesday as I assume they are busy setting up for Friday-Sunday weddings/events. In addition, some of my vendors tend to take 48+ hours to respond and some are known to respond within the day.

    I fired a vendor over this after waiting months to hear back from her…ridiculous. I gave her 2 chances before finally giving up. My other vendors typically answer me within 24 hours but if it were longer than a week…bye bye! I can’t do that again. I started to feel like a stalker but she just wouldn’t answer me. I felt as if she would bail on my wedding day. I found someone else who gets back to me the same day. I’d give 3-7 days give or take based on holidays. My vendors give me advanced notice of when they will be on vacation so I’m always in the loop.

    If you emailed Thursday I would give till Monday afternoon even though it’s so annoying to wait!  If no reply by Monday afternoon I would call, not email.

    Being a vendor, I hate waiting for emails so I reply as soon as possible; usually within a few hours. I believe that replying within a day is terrific, but 2 days is respectable and 3 days is acceptable. I believe after 3 days they are taking too much time to respond. I think that just like I am very busy, that the brides and grooms I work with are busy too. 

    But to be clear the industry says, a week is totally acceptable. I personally as I stated above believe that 3 days is the max anyone should wait for a response. I have had weekends that I’ve worked 4 days in a row and drove almost 1000 miles in that 4 day stretch and still I answer my emails. If I need to stay up for an hours or two to answer them, well that is what I do. 

    I think you should send another email within 2 weeks of your first email with no response. They are a business, they need to provide the service you have contracted them to serve. Part of that contract is unwritten, they will respond to you in a timely fashion or they are not taking your wedding/event seriously.
