    Who knows at the moment; some days it seems absolutely imminent then some days it seems it will never come.  Sigh.

    I said 2 years or less, but that is just hopefulness talking.  I have absolutely ZERO clue when he will be ready to get married and when he would ever propose.  I suppose it is entirely possible he may never want to remarry.  I hope that isn’t the case, but…I really feel like I have no clue until he actually asks me.

    @Creiddylad:  i don’t mind explaining πŸ˜€ I just wasn’t 100% on the question lol.

    yeah he’s very definitely said it won’t be this year. But he has also said that he definitely wants to marry me in other conversations (down worry, I’m not a complete loon XD).

    I’m content to wait for a fair while because I do think his intentions are honest and I’m fairly young. I think the reason I’m waiting has some things to do with his course and money. But also because he was engaged before and had a fairly traumatic breakup. So it’s all reasonable enough for now just not reason enough to postpone indefinitely you know? XD

    So just in case his fears get the better of him I figured why don’t I propose after a fair amount of time? And I’ll let him know in advance so that if he has an issue with the (like he’ll feel emasculated) he is welcome to let me know and I won’t do it. Since he hasn’t raised issue I assume he is okay with the idea of me proposing (at least mostly) but also with the idea of being engaged to me (though if it comes to it he would obviously be able to turn me down).

    Does that explain the situation and my thinking any better lol?

    How long would I like to wait? 1 month or less since our 7 year anniversary is in less than one month and I was really hoping it would be then..

    To answer your question of how long do I REALLY think I’ll be waiting? I voted 9 months or less because SO keeps making comments about “I want to get you a really nice ring” which makes me believe he hasn’t bought one yet but is thinking about it!

    Last time someone asked this I said about six months.  Well, it’s been several months since then and I’m saying about six months again.  I’m hoping it will be before our three year anniversary in March, but it’s hard to say.  He’s not ready yet and I’m not going to push him.  Right now his job needs to be stable (e.g. he knows where his permanent location is) before he’s going to be ready.

    From now, he already told me it would be before next year…so yeah hopefully within the next 2 months! :D:D:D:D:D

    @kpcascio:  Three months or less. He already has the ring home, safely tucked away. . . and I’ve been resisting the urge to look at it. He wants to talk to my parents (I don’t want him to, but it’s his choice) and has no idea how he wants to ask though (again, it’s important to him so I’m just going with it). He did say he wants to propose before the end of the year and has already decided to avoid Christmas, so I’m hoping before the end of next month.

    I said less than six months… We picked out the ring together, he bought it a week later! Our jeweler told us 4-6 weeks until Tacori sends it to them… this coming Saturday marks 5 weeks. Kiss

    @MaidMarian:  Yes, it does, lovely Marian! πŸ™‚ It all makes sense now, and thanks for explaining. I feel like we chat a lot and I’d gotten to an embarrassing place where I couldn’t quite remember the reason for you planning on proposing, potentially. Embarassed Now I get it, though! I think your reasoning seems quite sound. That sucks that he had a prior broken engagement; but I guess we all have some hurtful experience in our past of some kind. . .

    I’m really glad you are content waiting! Knowing where one stands helps immensely. πŸ™‚

    Yikes, I think my question got to be a threadjack!!! Sorry, OP!

    I believe it will be before the end of the year!! SO has hinted so much!! He is one of those that can’t keep a secret which makes me upset lol but I love him for it. I have a feeling that he is planning for an elborate proposal…which makes me excited to see what SO has in store for me πŸ™‚

    I’m guessing I’ll be waiting for at least 1-2 years ((sigh)) My eggs are shriveling up and dying in the meantime. Undecided

    I voted a year and a half… Which seems like forever, and I really hope it isn’t that long, but that’s probably realistic considering his health and job situation at the moment.

    We will definitely be engaged before January 3rd 2013 (my birthday!) and I’m fairly certain it will happen before Christmas. Not too long at all!
