After I went to the Social Security office, I got my new SS card within 2 weeks. After that it’s just a matter of going to the DMV (and suffering in that horrible line) and updating your info with all your accounts and what not. It’s really no big deal. You’ll need your new SS card and DL to change anything at work. I had some overlapping of my old name and new at my bank and it was never an issue.

Send in your marraige ceftificate right away. Ours took a little less than two weeks to get back (but we forgot to sign it at the weding so had to wait a week to meet with the bishop to get it signed oops.)

As soon as you get your marrige certificate back head to Social Security to get your new card. (It could take up to two weeks to get the actual card in the mail but here in AZ they said just to wait 48 hours then head to the DMV to get your license. (Your new name in SS will be on record by then.)

I got lucky and actually received my SS card in 3 days. Just got it today and headed to the DMV tomorrow. Been practicing writing my new name. LOL
