So we dropped the plans for my custom upgrade set off at the jewelers about 2 weeks ago. We went through the whole process of choosing the stones, and since we are going with gemstones, making sure they were the right color.
Last Tuesday the jeweler called to let us know that he would be starting the wax mold of my ring.
I called yesterday andd he said that it’s not ready yet, and that because of the immense amount of details, he wasn’t sure when it would be.
So my question is: Bees that had their rings custom made, how long did the wax mold process normally take?
For reference, here’s our inspiration photo, which we’re making a few changes to:
Sorry for the huge photo!!!
Thank you so much bees!!!

If he’s hand carving it (completely from scratch), I think it’s a pretty good estimation for it to take 5-6 weeks. That is a LOT of detail. It’s going to take time for him to get those exact measurements, to sand the wax until the surface is supremely shiny, and then to cast it in metal and clean it up and polish, and then to set the stones and polish some more…
Computer designing would result in a considerably shorter time span, maybe a week or less to design and get the wax printed, but then the clean up and the stone setting would take additional time.
If I were you, I’d just ask him how long you should expect it to take. He might work faster or slower depending on his work load.
What sort of gemstones did you decide on, if you don’t mind me asking? That ring is delicious. 🙂

mine took about a week and a half including being mailed across the country… shouldn’t be too far off but your jeweller should be able to tell you.
