Awwww poor guy!

I have found typically it takes about 24 hours to see real effects from albuterol and prednisone.  If you don’t see significant improvement in 48 hours you should call your Dr. back.

Yes, some kids can get hyper with albuterol.  Mine doesn’t, but my nephews did.

Good luck and I hope he feels better!

I have asthma so I feel for the poor little guy. The nebulizer or the “peace pipe” as my Doc calls it can make you feel jittery and not allow you to sleep. The prednisone can have a number of side effects. It makes me VERY hungry and itchy. Unfortunately neither drug is really conducive to sleep. The neb should work a few hours at a time. The prednisone will take about a week, sometimes shorter to start really working. Hang in there, I know it’s hard to hear him coughing like that but it takes a little while.

@mrskisstobe:  Good. Prednisone is a rough drug. He should start to cough with more ease. That sounds crazy but its supposed to help the lungs and immune system. I hate prednisone but it’s a necessary evil.
