So,… let’s say on Monday, your Boyfriend or Best Friend walks into a jeweler, and wants to buy a ring in your size.
How long would it take for that order to be processed? 6 weeks? 2 weeks? 1 day?
While I did work with a jeweler, I was just the packaging chick (worked for a tv shopping network jewelery company, so I boxed the rings and printed shipping labels,) so I worked in the back… I have no idea how long it took to process orders.

This depends on so many factors – is the ring being bought as is, already set? Loose diamond? Custom setting? How busy the jeweler is? In house bench? There’s no way to generally answer this question 🙂

Mine was made upon order. It shipped in two weeks. If it’s not a custom design, I think that’s standard for a ring that’s made upon order.

Fiance said it took a couple weeks to come in…he ordered at Zales and my finger is smaller than their standard size.

Tiffany quoted around two weeks for a wedding band, but I guess it depends on the company.

Mine is made once ordered and was promised within 3 weeks. I agree with PPs that there are so many factors that go into it.

Thanks everyone 🙂 I knew it was a loaded question… I guess I have no idea what my BF’s plans are (if he’ll get a custom design or what not)
I know my size will probably have to be ordered. I’m a tall girl (6′) and my fingers are a size 10 (ugh.. i hate saying that. i feel so gross about that..)
Thanks again for the guesstimates! 🙂

Our jeweler took only a week to custome make the ring once he finalized which diamond he wanted.

@AquaGrey8962: You never know, it really, really depends.
My Fiance purchased my diamond loose and picked the setting out afterwards. They set it and sized it for him right there at the jeweler’s, and he left with the right perfectly set and sized within the hour.
If you go the totally custom route and have one made, it’ll obviously take a bit longer.

@Candybar: like PP’s it really depends on a lot. I wear a size 6 so when we picked out a setting I was able to walk out with it. We bought a loose stone and they said to set it takes 3-4 days.
Since you have the get a different size I’d say it’d take a little longer, maybe 2-3 weeks? Total guesstimate.
Unless he bought it online.. We got our loose stone overnighted to us and I’m sure they have all sizes on hand and could overnight a size 10 no problem!

Mine was full custom. We had issues with the stone, then the customizations I wanted made the casting difficult. Took 12 weeks, but was worth it.
