It will last somewhat but it won’t be ‘fresh’. Evening make up and anything remotely ‘special occassion’ or dramatic you’ll want to be applied as close to the time as possible. I would ring around and see if theres another MAC near you. Or even go to another counter – or you could even do it yourselves!

MAC makeup is a higher quality than most other makeup, but like PP said, it will end up looking dull by the time you need it!

Sephora does makeup application as well!  And most makeup counters!

I’m a beauty therapist (I’m from the UK) and I used to also work for Clarins on the counters before I qualified. Honestly, the people on the MAC counters are no better qualified than the other counters. They have great products on there, but it all depends on who you end up with

I actually went with Smashbox.

Got their starter kick and was AMAZINGLY happy with how long it lasted and how light it felt! <— I used to wear bare minerals so I did NOT want to feel heavy.

I would totally check out the starter to try out! I mixed the primer & foundation together before applying and it’s worked GREAT!.. I just ran out and have been very sad. lol

Oh and a tip for primer…. use Monistat Chaffing gel. It has the EXACT same ingredients as Smashbox Primer but is CONSIDERABLY cheaper. =)

I want to have MAC do my make up for my engagement pictures on Friday… but you have to make a $50 purchase. Ugh! I am willing to buy something, but not for $50. I guess I’ll settle for a different counter (Clinue or Estee Lauder?), I don’t really want heavy make up so I can’t justify spending that much money! I’m so cheap ๐Ÿ™‚

Back to the original question, I think you should go with something else. The make-up will not be as fresh. That’s a long day to have with putting make up on at 10am. Can you do it somewhere else?

You should be okay — tips :

(1) as other bees have said, use primer

(2) buy those oil blotting sheets to remove oil!

Yea, MAC artists have to go through extensive training to even be considered at the counter. That’s why I originally had an appointment there… but I just couldn’t let go of that $50. Part of me feels like I’ll end up there anyway! But I’m SO glad the artist is coming to you! Yay ๐Ÿ™‚

I know I’m a little late replying to this post but since you’re wedding is in January hopefully this will help…. Some MAC makeup artists freelance too.  I keep going back and forth about doing it mysef or having this guy who always helps me when I go in.  He gave me his info and told me that he’d come to me since I live over an hour from my nearest MAC counter so that could be an option for you too.
