I have only gotten a shellac manicure once. It lasted almost two weeks- at that my point nails had grown out quite a bit and it looked pretty bad around my cuticles (but it didn’t chip)!

If you still have time before your wedding you could go get a manicure as a test run just to be sure it will last for you as well.

I agree with PP. Mine usually last two weeks, but the biggest thing you notice is the growth around the cuticles (space). Can you try to get it a day or two before rather than a week before hand?

Shellac looks good for about a week, sometimes a little less. But if you’re really gentle on your hands it can last up to 2 weeks. BUT, salt water and sand can really ruin a manicure but if you don’t like to play in the sand (I do, im weird) then you should be fine!

Mine lasted two weeks. I got it a couple days before the wedding, and had it changed after the honeymoon. By then it was a little ragged but only if you looked closely. It survived the beach, swimming, and all the usual abuse my nails take pretty well.

Is there a way you could get it done a little closer to the wedding so you don’t risk messing it up in the seven days before?

Mine lasted 2 weeks, but I would say 1 week for perfection. at 2 week mark it started peeling/cracking off. I would think Monday morning or Sunday night would be ok. Does the hotel you’re staying in not offer it?

My best friend had a destination wedding in which I was Maid/Matron of Honor. I got a gel manicure before leaving and also purchased the corresponding OPI nail color to bring with me on the trip to touch up any chipping.

Is something like that an option for you?

I got a shellac manicure last Friday for my wedding, and it still looks as good today as the day I got it.  I think you’ll be fine.

Lauren267:  Is that like a gel manicure?  That’s what I do – if you take care of them (like wear gloves when you do dishes, etc) mine last 2 – 2.5 weeks!

The only thing that ever looked weird about mine was the growth. I think I had them on for 2.5 weeks. Shellac is awesome.

My shellac lasted just under 2 weeks, but the nails started to grow out, and while it didn’t chip it looked flakey towards the bottom.  Definitely after a week they didn’t nearly look as good as when I got them.  They looked ok, but I wouldn’t have wanted closeups of them.  I would look into somewhere in Bali.  Go to a nice touristy spa- it might be a tad overpriced, but it would be a safe bet

Lauren267:  I got my Shellac manicure the day before my wedding because I was going on a 2 week honeymoon to Europe – it lasted 3 weeks

I have had a shellac manicure for 3 weeks now! It hasn’t chipped at all, just like everyone says its the regrowth that looks bad. I don’t think 6 days will be too bad at all though, it should be fine.

Lauren267:  it should be fine if you get it a week before your wedding. I get shellac manicures all the time and I’ve even gone three weeks before a new one. I find that light pinks and nude colours or French manicures are better because it’s not as a obvious if you have some grow out. Dark/bright colours show the growth more.
