Does anyone know how long it generally takes for bridesmaid dress alterations? I searched on here and on google and couldn’t really find any helpful info! I bought the dress from David’s Bridal in October in a size 10. A size 8 fit, but it was snug & if I gained even a couple pounds, it probably wouldn’t have fit, so we ordered the 10. The wedding is May 10 in Miami, so I’ve been planning on losing a few pounds (12-15ish) for the occasion, so I probably COULD have just stuck with the 8 which would mean less that needed altering, but I wanted to be safe.
I highly doubt that when all is said and done, I will have lost two dress sizes, but if that is the case, is that too much to take in? I’ve read on some sites that more than one size is no big deal, and read on others that it can be problematic based on what needs done and the fabric/style of the dress. It’s polyester, and if it helps any, this is what it looks like (excuse the wrinkles lol).
The bust needs taken in for sure, and I’m assuming the waist will too if I reach my goal weight. I’ve never had anything altered before, nor do I wear dresses enough to know how losing weight will affect its fit, so I’m turning to you guys for help!
Does 12-15 lbs. even sound reasonable? If so, approximately when should I take my dress for alterations? And finally, should I avoid DB for alterations and look for a local seamstress/bridal shop?
I don’t feel very girly right now lol Any info, comments, & suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks ladies!
