We had a date before we were “engaged”… but we’d been talking about getting married sometime in the fall of 2012 for a while. We called the church, found open days, and committed to one… BEFORE the ring. Not really the traditional route.

We got engaged October 1 and set our date last night. We wanted to get married ASAP but given that we live at a beach about 9 hours from our family, and our 5 children attend different schools in 2 states, also several hours away, we had to work around everyone’s breaks, etc. so summer was the closest we could get. I am so excited!

we had talked about marriage before we were engaged so we knew our date even before he popped the big question.

We set a date within 2 weeks but i guess that just because we knew we wanted to get married in summer but not in late July or early August…so that leaves June and early July. Which obviously we picked early July.

We set a date about 3 weeks after we got engaged. We went to go look at the venue and I was going to put it off a couple of months but the planner there said that if you know approximately when we wanted to get married, then we should book sooner rather than later. We booked right before Christmas and because lots of people get engaged in and around Christmas, there are lots of appointments to see the venue after Christmas and then it may not be available when we wanted it to be.
In the Vancouver area, the good venues get snapped up over a year in advance :S Especially for a summer wedding.

My fiance and I got engaged on July 29, 2010. After about three months we set a date, but we had a rather long engagement of exactly two years. We are getting married on July 29, 2012, and I could not have been happier that we decided to wait a while and feel things out before rushing to the altar!

We set our date about 2-3 weeks after being engaged. The only thing that really had a huge factor in the date was the church–I only wanted one church, and they were only available on the day we got. We knew we wanted fall of this year but got engaged in Jan., so the pickings were slim!

We had a general timeline in mind- we both wanted a fall wedding. We got engaged in March, and we didn’t want to have to rush to plan it, plus since it had to be a Catholic wedding, we figured booking the church would need at least a year. We didn’t set a date officially until May, when I finally put my foot down about booking the church (and even that far out from our Oct. 2012 date, they were extremely limited in their availability).

It was 2 – 3 weeks for us! 🙂

It took me about two weeks to pick a date, but I already had a ballpark idea of when I wanted before the ring was on my finger. Also, Fiance proposed in July 2011 and we’re getting married May 2012. I sort of had to get moving since that’s wedding season.

We set the date a year after our engagement! We toyed with a lot of different options. We also had some job changes and unsure were we would move together once married. Our total engagement will be around 25 months and I wouldn’t change it, it worked for us.

Our was within a month or two of getting engaged. My fiance has been on this weird deployment schedule, so we had to schedule it around his work.

We decided on July 2012 or Oct 2012 (I am a teacher and these coincide with school hols) the day after we were engaged, we started looking up venues 2 days later and our venue told us that July was free for 3 Saturdays so we had a choice, one of which was our date 21st July. Funny enough SO proposed on Thursday 21st July and being a leap year it falls on a Sat next year, once we realised that it was a no brainer 😉 It was officially confirmed a week later but we had chosen the date 3-4 days after being engaged.
On another note thou we planned EVERYTHING very quickly (approx 4 weeks) so now we are sitting back and enjoying our engagement knowing everything is done/planned 🙂 People are quite surprised when we tell them everything

We actually set a date BEFORE we got engaged! We were out visiting venues when he popped the question 🙂

We got engaged last Christmas, and did not set a date until June, and the wedding was in October. So 6 months from engaged to set the date and 4.5 months from setting the date to the wedding. And with only 4.5 months planning time, our day was AmAzInG!!!!!!
