@ontbride:  It’ll end up being about 4.5 weeks from proposal to elopement, and 6 months from proposal to reception/vow renewal/ceremony for family in January.

Hey there,

We got engaged in May, decided to elope in September, and did it in October. It took me 2 weeks to plan our elopement/wedding. If you want to do it now, go for it! There are so many BS details you don’t have to worry about when you elope. It was great fun, I’m so glad we did it. Good luck, and have fun!

DH & I wanted a date that was special to us, so we did it a year from the proposal date! We ‘planned’ our elopement to las vehas starting in late December and finally decided 100% in March. We eloped to The Chapel of Flowers in Las Vegas. (I highly recommend them!) They did most if the planning, so we only had to worry about a few minor details.

Dear Fiance and I got engaged in January, and since we both knew we were just going to do a courthouse elopement, we didn’t do any planning right away.  Then, a couple of weeks ago, I decided I thought we should get married before we start nursing school at the end of September, so I asked him what he thought.  He hemmed and hawed for a bit and then agreed to September 9th.  So we will have been engaged for seven and a half months when we get married, and actually been planning the wedding for about three weeks before hand.  I’m so glad we’re eloping, though.  Even just planning the rings, the witnesses, the marriage license…basically the esenssials only…has been more stress than I wanted surrounding my wedding anyway.

My DH proposed on Valentines day. We had planned to be married the year following, probably in spring early summer. But when he realized that our 2 yr anniversary would fall on 11/12/13 that year he asked to move the date up.

So from start to finish was 8 months. I was really indecisive about a lot of things so my planning took maybe 3 or 4 months to complete, but if you are focused and clear about your inspirations it for sure could have been done in a few weeks.

ontbride:  We discussed marriage in late June or early July (no proposal, no rings. We don’t roll like that) and jetted off to Antigua in August.

It took a couple of weeks to plan it. That was only because it needed to be legal, and we’re a binational couple so that made things interesting! Antigua does a bang-up same day job!

We never really were “engaged”…  we just started tossing around the idea of getting married in July or August.  We had an already planned cruise vacation in November so we decided to elope the weekend before we left, just to combine it all in.  But I don’t think we actually started “planning” things until maybe late Sept or early Oct?

may 2013 engaged wedding july 2014.  the wedding was “planned and booked” in may 2013…just doing little touches here and there since then.  We used a travel agent which simplified a lot.
