How many of you have been asked this question when your with your SO? (How long have you been married?) My bf and I have been together a full year come Sunday. However we have been asked this several times by both family and friends of friends. I am totally used to the “oh when are you gonna get married” question. But this one just blows me away, I mean I don’t even wear any type of ring on my finger at all usually.
Maybe we just act like we have been married? or maybe its just cause I’m getting older now, I’m 26 and hes 29…I don’t know was just wondering if this happens to anyone else?

We were never asked how long we had been married, everyone just always asumed we were. We have been together 6 years, have a daughter together and just got married a few weeks ago. For the past few years everyone called me his wife and vice versa. Some people were actually shocked when we announced that we were getting married, it was like “You’re not already married?”

@aubrav: Ditto to what you said, and it’s so frustrating! Arghhhh!

@AudzinLuv: It never really bothered us, and we really never corrected it. Mainly because we would have had to correct it a lot. And really, I never liked saying “My boyfriend” or “My fiance” so I always just called him “Jeff” or “My Jeff”, lol.

Ugh, the cashier at the grocery store asked us how long we were married and the bf was like “oh we’re not” and the cashier went on and on about how some people he knew dated for 16 yrs then got married and broke up. It was sooo akward haha. I don’t correct people when they refer to him as my husband though. Its easier that way.
