To me 8 – 10 years seems like a long time but really, my Darling Husband and I have been together for 2.5 years total. To my grandparents who celebrated their 50 year anniversary not too long ago, I’m sure 8 – 10 years seems like a weekend 🙂

It depends on how old you are. At 23, a 5 year relationship is long; at 75, 50 years is long.

Once you pass the 5 year mark. Or have been married more than 10 years. For some reason a newlywed couple who was together for 9 years before the wedding and celebrates their first wedding anniversary seems like a younger couple than a couple celebrating their 9th wedding anniversary who got married after being together for a year. Even though technically they’ve been together the same amount of time.

I find this super subjective and not really constructive so I didn’t vote.

This depends on age and relationship status. Are you talking about people who aren’t yet married or engaged or people who are married/basically-married-but-planning-to-never-actually-go-through-the-procedure? For people in their 30s who aren’t married, I’d say something like 8 years is a long time, but for an 18 year old, I think 2 years is a long time. For married people, decades and decades is a long time. It’s situational.

In middle or high school, I remember thinking that couples that were together for over a year were going to get married because they’d been together so long.

    It’s really a subjective question.

I’ve always thought it wasn’t so much about years as it was about mileage…
