- Wedding: September 2016
Our engagement is 11 months, but I think we could have planned the wedding we wanted in 8, provided that our venue was still available.
April 2015: We got engaged
May 2015: We booked a venue and most major vendors. I bought my dress, which ended up being a discontinued sample so we didn’t even need to order it.
June 2015: We booked a florist. I picked out the Bridesmaid or Best Man dress.
{long break of not much to do}
September 2015: We mailed out STDs. I booked a hair and makeup trial but it’s not until January.
October 2015: I think we’ll meet with the caterer (our venue’s exclusive caterer) for a tasting and to finalize our choices.

March 2016: WEDDING!
There are still odds and ends of things I want to do, but we’re pretty much coasting at this point. All the hard stuff was at the beginning. I’m not really DIYing anything so it takes a lot of the pressure off.
I got engaged in February 2008, so it’ll be a 10 year engagement!
There was a lot of moving (three states), health issues (congestive heart failure), family issues between then and now….so it’s been busy to say the least! We never felt a sense of urgency and money’s been tight throughout the years, but we’ve decided on a September 2018 wedding.
So far, we’ve been researching venues, songs we want to use. I bought clip art on Etsy and made the invitations and save the dates in Photoshop, so that’s finished. I bought one of our card boxes (this Lego head: http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Storage-Head-Large-Yellow/dp/B003NE5L86, which I bought on sale elsewhere and I’m waiting on a sale for the Lego girl).
I plan on DIY-ing a lot of things myself, so once we set the date earlier this year, it felt nice to have all this time to get things finished.
My Fiance and I got engaged this past August and we’re planning a May 2017 wedding. So our engagement will be 21 months. We wanted an outdoor spring wedding, but we’re waiting until I’m done with my classes. So, spring ’17 it is! We’re looking at venues now and we plan to book one this month. I plan on buying my dress in May 2016. Other than that, we haven’t come up with a time line yet. It’s nice having the extra time to spread out planning.
15 month engagement, from mid-May 2015 to mid-August 2016 (:
July (13 months out) – Booked venue and caterer, chose color scheme, chose bridal party, drafted guest list
August (12 months out) – Booked photographer and DJ, decided on officiant (family friend)
September (11 months out) – Bought wedding gown and veil
All I have left to do is get invitations/save the dates, take engagement photos (shoot will be in January), figure out DIY decorations, and finalize the menu (after the tasting in January), and do the flower arrangements with my mom. But I got things done pretty quickly. It depends on how much of a worrier you are and how long of an engagement you have. We had to plan our wedding for a specific week due to my fiancé’s military career.
engaged March 10th 2015 getting married January 15th 2016
Check out theknot.com. You pick a date you want and they tell you when you need to do everything. When I found this site I was very happily relieved.
For us it will be 10 months from engagement to married. Booked the church and reception venues 9 months ahead (spent the first month in lala land). Bought the dress about 8 months ahead. Booked photographer around the same time and took engagement photos so we can send save the dates 7 months ahead. Booking musician 7 months ahead. Then I want to have bridesmaid dresses ordered in the next month. Other than that, I’ll need to continue to figure out centerpieces, flowers, cake…. and probably a lot of other stuff that I’m not even thinking about yet!
We got engaged on July 14th 2013. We planned to be married July 14th 2015 then in February Future Father-In-Law had a stroke so we put it off while he recovered. So rescheduled for October 11th 2015. Then Fiance had great opprotunity for welding training. Again delayed til July 14th 2016. NOW venue conflicts & final New date October 7th 2016.
So many things have happened but it gave us time to save money & happy to say Future Father-In-Law is doing GREAT & will be our photographer.
Were finalizing venue & reception & meeting with caterer next week with my full menu.
I bought my dress a couple months again & will go to find veil very soon.
We got engaged in June 2013 and will be getting married August 2016. We didn’t originally plan on that long but once the initial excitement wore off I realized we were going to be together forever no matter what and we agreed to postpone it to work on our brand new careers. Glad we did because we both got rockin’ jobs and now can plan our wedding without wondering where we will be when it happens
