I would have only left one message. Since they knew the training is tomorrow they should have been keeping an eye out for a call from you. I would have given them until this afternoon to make contact before contacting the next person in line so that the new person could be at the training session.

Unless if there was an emergency or something, I think the fact that she didn’t contact you back is indicative of future work behavior. But that’s just me, I’m very no-nonsense. I think you’ve waited long enough, personally.

In the past, if it’s a job I was super excited about, I made it a priority to return the call ASAP and I would check my email non-stop. Barring a major emergency, I’m inclined to believe that your candidate isn’t really interested in the job. If it turned out it was a catastrophic emergency, I’m sure that the candidate will follow up soon and explain. I’ve applied for positions and interviewed with the hiring manager when I wasn’t too excited about the position before (or found out that during the interview, it wasn’t the position I was expecting). When they’ve called back, I’ve delayed contacting them back because I was weighing my options.

This is weird. I would move on, it’s been long enough! However, part of me thinks that it could be a major emergency (I was recently in the hospital for a week and had received an email asking me for a phone interview literally 5 minutes before I left for the hospital)– I didn’t have a smart phone, I couldn’t check my email, and I couldn’t talk, so I FREAKED OUT. Luckily after a few days I was able to use a friends to get in contact and let them know, but still. I would move on with other candidates, but also consider the fact that she might not just be standing you up 🙂
