basically, due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances we have had to postpone our wedding. we had quite a long engagement to start with, but the next convenient date, what with one thing and another, is getting on for almost three years away!
My mum is quite against it, although she adores my SO. she thinks there is no point in being engaged longer than a year, because it won’t take longer than that to plan a wedding! I can see her point, but we’re hardly going to become unengaged, just to get engaged again closer to the time, are we?
is anybody else having a long engagement? do you think we should postpone our engagement, as well as our wedding?

So you would have to wait another 3 years??? That seems a little much for me, personally. I think I woudl get married now, then have the party later

I agree. If you want the whole traditional wedding you could just sign the official documents at the court house now, but still have a ceremony and everything later. Maybe that’s a bit silly. I don’t know.

I agree on getting married and celebrating later…. or making it a Vow Renewal.
You don’t have to necessarily go to the courthouse either… just make something VERY small… parents and siblings?.. get your pastor to meet ya at the part or maybe somewhere nice in town (we have a gazebo in the square downtown where I live) and just DO IT!.. go out for a nice dinner/lunch/brunch and love being married! =)
