- Wedding: September 2012 - Schloss Heiligenberg/ Spearfish Canyon Lodge
We are planning a 2 hours coktail hour – which includes time for a reception line and photos (family, bridal party, just us). Our venue coordinator has now raised concerns that (in their opinion) 2 hours is too long. Our ceremony and reception are at the same venue.
So I’m trying to figure out what is considered the norm here.

This is too long. It’s a cocktail HOUR

Ours is 1 hour. My photographer tried to convince me to make it longer, but we can’t. I’m afraid guests would get bored plus we would need to pay for even more appetizers and drinks. Don’t want guests to be stuffed/drunk for dinner!!

our “cocktail hour” is from 6-7…ceremony is at 5 and recpt starts at 7.
venue set it up that way- we had no say on it..however the ceremony wont be an entire hr- and we have a photo area set up for pics for guests to take with santa from 530-7

one hour. No receiving line
our ceremony and reception are in the same venue

Ours will be approximately 1 hour..however since its Croatian tradition to do your receiving line during this time, it may run 1.5 hours.
