We will be engaged a total of 33 months.
We wanted a long engagement so we could both get new jobs, take care of some old debts, and find a place to live.
For the most part it’s really worked for us. It’s made planning and paying for everything so much easier.
But it’s been tough to wait at times, and we actually got a lot of flack and rude comments from some people insinuating that we were “dragging our feet,” etc.
But whatever.
This is what worked for us.
And now that we’re less than 2 months away, I can honestly say the time FLEW.

8.5 months. Seemed long at times even though it wasn’t. But overall it flew by and miraculously all the planning came together wonderfully. Wouldn’t change a things.

I voted 6-12 months, even though mine was almost exactly 1 year. It works out to something like 11 months and 3 weeks. For us, anywhere from 9-12 months would have been perfect.
In retrospect we do say we could have shaved a few months off of it if we’d wanted to as far as logistics and planning go.

I posted previously that my enagement is 27 months, but if I could go back to when I first got engaged, I would instead plan on a 15 month engagement to get married June 2013. There would’ve been pros and cons for both a 15 month and a 27 month engagement either way 🙂 But can’t worry too much about it now that it’s passed… just can’t wait for these next 10 months to go by!

We were engaged for 3.5 years, but didn’t actually do any wedding planning till about 15 months before the big day.

Ours was 6 months and that felt too long!
At the time of the proposal we had been together for almost 9 years and I just didn’t want to wait any longer to be married to my best friend! We got engaged at the very end of Dec. 2012 and agreed that we wanted to get married over the summer. It was probably more important to me because I’m a teacher so I wanted to start the new school year with my new name, but he agreed and that’s what he had envisioned once he knew he was going to propose.

Long. We got engaged June 8 (this year), and are getting married May 23, 2015, so 23 months. We’re down to almost 20 months now, and I feel like we just got engaged yesterday! I’ve always wanted a May wedding, and May 2014 was way too soon, plus booked at the reception venue of our choice, so I find our engagement length is perfect.

It’ll be two years and one month by the time we get married.
